What David Taught Us..

First the song which has been on my mind today. One of the best TPF's music scenes and outstanding DC's vocal performance.

So what David Cassidy taught us?
A lot of things, but actually it's the title of the article I found on Pinterest while waiting for my plane last Wednesday. It was supposed to be written by Suzanne and Brian in the early 70s, published on one of those mags dedicated to the show.

So one day on the set of TPF the whole schedule was delayed because of some difficulties with lighting and sound system, and waiting was especially difficult for the youngest, Suzanne and Brian. Suddenly David came to them, smiling, "He rumpled Brian's hair and sat down next to them with his arm around Suzanne. Brian looked up at David and said, 'Gee, David, you're the only one who's smiling today!". And  DC started explaining them the importance of patience and responsibility. He said, 'Patience is such a hard lesson to learn."

Charming and of course not written by Suzanne and Brian, but yes, patience..I'm Aries, a very typical one, so I'm not patient at all, on the contrary, and  David Cassidy was Aries too, but he had to learn to be patient very early in his career. Being on the set meant a lot of waiting for others or for a take (those lucky girls who helped him to get through those boring hours), and of course he was spending a lot of time on airplanes.

And let me tell you that during last 2 weeks I've flown 4 times and I've had enough for a long time. For DC it was a part of his job, he was constantly on the road. E.g. in April 1972 he played 14 concerts, each week flying from LA and performing on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (and returning to LA at night). 52 years ago, in April 1972, DC played concerts in Canada, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Milwaukee, Indiana, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Kentucky and North Carolina.

In 1972 he played 61 concerts.

We have a lot of David's concerts reviews from 1972 on The David Cassidy Official Website. About the music he played and about his audience, how sometimes DC was in danger, "Cassidy had barely started his first song when the teenypobbers laid siege on the stage. Screaming, they leaped out of their seats and surged forward, a human wave of look-alike girls (..) Despite the ushers, one girl repeatedly made it on the stage. Cassidy, a veteran of this sort of reaction, ran off the stage in the middle of a song, apparently in self-defence, because he has been scratched and kicked and once was slugged with an instamatic camera.."

There was only one part of this article on Pinterest, so I haven't read DC's lecture on responsibility, but we can guess what he had said. He was very independent, stubborn, liked doing everything  his own way, but on the other hand he was a great team player. He learnt it at the theatre. To be a part of the cast. To be responsible, to be on time, to know his part, and that being a star means even more responsibilty.

And at the end something absolutely sensational, showing what a great singer, performer David Cassidy was, and also a great team player, because during this concert he was the star, but also a part of his outstanding band.
