I'll Meet You Halfway. A Tribute To David Cassidy.

In the first months after David died, The David Cassidy Official Website became a natural place for fans from all over the world  to be together and mourn David. 

We were also waiting for tributes to DC, tributes organized by family and David's famous friends. We were discussing what it could be, a concert maybe, or even better an album with covers of David's songs. 

I loved the idea of the album, all of them could sing. Katie recorded ITILY when she was a teen, David recorded duets with Sue and didn't care that she was a better sonwriter than a singer. 

And there were also David's brothers and Shirley, a lot of talented nephews, and so many friends. Kim and Dave started their career working for David. Alice, Elton, Gerry, Dewey, Richie, Timothy and many more..

Fans have learnt very quickly that if we want something for David, a memorial plaque, a bench, a star or a book, whatever, we have to do it ourselves, it's amazing what we have achieved. The things we've done for him or because of David. He still inspires us. 

And after 6 years it looks that maybe we'll have a great collection of new recordings, covers of David's songs. Made by a fan. From Greece. Elisabeth Karatzoli. A month ago 2 songs appeared on YT and Spotify as a tribute for David's birthday. 

Elizabeth lives in Athens, she is a vocal teacher, singer and a songwriter. She is a beautiful woman with strong, expressive voice. Her recordings have been doing great on YT and Spotify because they are very good and very professionally done. Everything. These are not home made covers. They were recorded at the professional studio with professional musicians, and yes Elisavet (Elizabeth being English version of her name), she paid for everything herself. 

She fell for David like millions of teens all around  the world in the 70s. She was already very interested in music, jazz and rock and of course great music of her native country. Because of David she started singing and playing the guitar. When David resigned from being a teen idol, like many others (me either) she forgotten about him. But that love and influence lived somewhere deep inside, and when David died those feelings returned.

Elizabeth recorded so far 2 songs, and I'll write more about her and  her version of 'Junked Heart Blues' next time.. They deserve separate entry.

Nearly 11k views only on You Tube. It's not only professionally done, it's very professionally shared either. Wonderful sound. Beautifully played, I love how the piano is used especially at the end of the song. But first of all I love Elisabeth's interpretation of 'I'll Meet You Halfway'. Everything has been carefully thought about. I love her passion and her emotional singing. We can hear her sadness, now it's too late to meet David anywhere in this world..it will never happen..But love and music..there is always a chance.

  I learnt yesterday that Robyn Millan died last year. Someone published a post about the TPF's episode where she'd appeared as a guest star, 'Dora, Dora, Dora', Season 2 episode 1, aired 50 years ago, on September 17, 1971. First 'Four Weddings and a Funeral'. The film premiered in the UK 30 years ago, on May 13, 1994.  A low budget film, made in 6 weeks, became unexpected success, all over the world, earned just mountains of money, and made of  Hugh Grant international star. It's also a film with a very strong David Cassidy's connection.  The script was written by Richard Curtis (born in 1956), whose partner (they married after many years in 2023), a popular broadcaster Emma Freud, was (and still is) a DC fan.
