Produced by E.T. Thorngren
E.T. Thorngren was a legend for many. Always. Already in the 70s, and even in Poland, because he was Talking Heads' producer. Everything about him was extraordinary, also his name, his hats.. He was always a mysterious figure, we still don't know the cause of his death on May 6. He was very independent and very good at his job. His job was his passion.
Eric Thorngren was born in New York, around the same time as David, he started his music career in the late 60s, but very quickly decided that he wanted to be on the other side in the studio, he became an engineer, producer and mixer. He produced punk classics albums and very early hip hop. He produced 'Sid and Nancy' original soundtrack. And Eurythmics, Public Image Ltd, Debbie Harry, Cyndi Lauper, Lou Gramm, Wet Wet Wet, Robert Palmer and David Cassidy.
He worked with David twice. The first time he co-produced (with another legend, Phil Ramone), David's self-titled album, released in October 1990.

What a great rock number!
They worked together once more, E.T. Thorngren produced the best David's album recorded in the 90s, 'Didn't You Used To Be..', released by Scotti Brothers in 1992.
The album was more mature and sophisticated than David's previous record. More R&B oriented, funk and soul, great sound and harmonies. The songs covered so many kinds of music from the soulful ballads to rock. Interesting and sincere lyrics. Highly emotional. And David could sing everything. His voice was the best, the most important instrument on this record, his outstanding vocal range, timbre of his voice, passion and emotions, perfection of performance, every note and every word, though out and refined. Great album.
