David Cassidy And a Copper Bracelet

Thanks to Marjon Hoogendam-Landmeter, we now have on The David Cassidy Official Website a very interesting article called, 'The New EFX Master. David Cassidy takes the stage at The MGM Grand'. 'Casino Player, January 1977.

I've read this article once, but not the original issue and without those wonderful pics. Written by Bobby Katz, who at the beginning revealed to us that in the 70s was TPF's fan ; DC was photographed (great pics) by Mark Lawson Shepard. David Cassidy looking like a million dollars, sexy and fit, his irresistible smile on all the pics but one where we see him working.

This is very sincere interview, worth reading, even that we know by heart ups and downs of DC's carrer. He said a lot about his father, Jack. "Fame was great because it made me feel less rejected. It made me feel accepted and loved, which is what I always wanted to feel from my dad."

And 'Let It Shine' once more, with a short interview with Bill Boggs before the openinng night. DC looks like a boy looking forward for the next adventure. He said in the article, 'I'd be perfectly happy if I could do this show for another 8 years" 8 years !!! He would have been dead, that's for sure.

I spent 2 days in Las Vegas at the end of March 2019 (already was hot) and I loved it. Red Rock Canyon and the city itself. That excitement, the crowd, the music, lights, casinos, people I talked with on the way from my hotel 'Circus, Circus' to MGM Grand. I was sitting later on the pedestal of the MGM lion statue outside the hotel listening to DC's music..to calm down, and thinking about David, why he was working so hard. Of course he earned a lot of money, for 2 years was Mr Vegas and received a lot of awards, but what a price he paid for it.

The pic from this article was shared on David Cassidy Greatest Fans Group, and one fan (Jacque Cardenas) asked about the DC's bracelet. Great that he asked because I haven't noticed it. Lanie Bray (she really knows everything!) answered, "It was a copper bracelet. They are supposed to help with joint inflammation and arthritis", and that David wore it the whole time he was in LV, because the stage at MGM Grand was very hard on his feet and legs.

Of course the stage was very hard, it was made of steel to support sets weighting 9 tons..To say that the show was physically demanding is an understatement. It was also dangerous. DC performed in EFX 10 times a week, 50 weeks a year, in total over 1500 shows. He damaged a nerve in his left foot, he had back pains, there was also a lot of stress and too much responsibility. His family life..difficult to imagine any when a husband and a father is practically absent.

I love Sharon Angulot's videos, actually in this one only song is from EFX, but it's fun to watch.

And something sad at the end. Hiram Kasten who performed as Joey Bishop on David Cassidy and Don Reno's 'The Rat Pack Is Back', died at the age of 71.
