David Cassidy On Junior Choice BBC Radio 1, and Yorkshire TV
But first Happy Birthday Tom Bähler, he had birthday yesterday. Born in 1943, and as we can read in Wikipedia, "Together with the Wrecking Crew, the Bähler brothers have sung, produced and arranged hundreds of worldwide hits", but for us Tom Bähler (and other members of Ron Hicklin Singers) was not just a backing singer for David, but he was often The Partridge Family's vocal arranger, and it was Tom who in fact was 'Bulletin Board' producer. Wonderful man, he talked about his admiration for David's talent and his work for The Partridge Family in many interviewes.
So let's listen to Tom and his older brother John, Ron Hicklin and Jackie Ward. From The Partridge Family Album, a song written by Cynthia Weil, (who died exactly one year ago on June 1, 2023), and her husband Barry Mann.

What a great song, The Wrecking Crew at its best and those harmonies, just amazing.
Ed Stewart. Yesterday I think it was, on the David Cassidy Official Website was published radio recording from 1976, David Cassidy as a guest star on Junior Choice BBC Radio 1. My friend Doreen Walker has corrected the date, it was broadcast on March 12, 1976. And Doreen has told me that she actually listened to it when it was originally broadcast, because it was a very popular programme and it played request from kids. When she was a teen, Doreen often sent postcards with her requests too. And David while being on Junior Choice read some requests from viewers, and talked a little bit about his latest album, 'Home Is Where The Heart Is'.
That radio recording is not very good quality, but we can hear how David's voice changed, at the time he smoked a lot, and besides he was tired after flying from New York. And of course in February he was in Colorado recording his last RCA album. During the programme 2 DC's songs were played. 'January' and 'Tomorrow'. Let's watch again David singing 'Tomorrow' on a tv programme recorded probably also in March 1976.

But it wasn't the first time DC took part in Junior Choice. We have another radio recording with him as a guest star from 1972, and Doreen thinks he was on this programme each time he visited London in the 70s. Because Junior Choice was extremely popular, attracting more than 17 million listeners (according to Wikipedia), and Ed 'Stewpot' Stewart was a very popular DJ who hosted Junior Choice for 12 years, from 1968.
Ed Stewart was also a sport presenter and of course Top Of The Pops'. He interviewed David also for TV, and we have a very special fragment on the website from May 1974. David Cassidy interviewd by Ed Stewart on Yorkshire Television music show. Just amazing..
