"David Cassidy Sings 'Point Me" And A Very Strange Article
On November 4, 1971 an article appeared on The Albuquerque Jurnal, about upcoming DC's concert in that town on November 8th.
It was called, "David Cassidy Sings 'Point Me' In Albuquerque".
He said in a telephone interview, "Actually I've been dying to sing this song in Albuquerque. It was on one of my albums and it did quite well, I hear."
It did not bad. The song was recorded in summer of 1970, and appeared on the first album called The Partridge Family Album, released in September 1970, peaked at no 4 on Billboard on January 2nd 1971. And on charts for 68 WEEKS.
The song was used in the episode 22 from Season 1. It was called 'Road Song' and first aired on February 26, 1971. The script written by Dale McRaven, later Susan Dey's boy friend. A very memorable episode not only that a lot of filming was done outside the Partridges' house, there are more like that episodes in Season 1, but first of all because the plot was quite serious. Running away from home, Maggie's difficult choices, looking for a compromise. But there was also a lot of humor, even surreal, like in this memorable music scene.

David Cassidy sang 'Point Me' in 1971 and 1972, in the US, but not during his European Tour in 1973 and World Tour in 1974. I've checked the set lists, and it looks he didn't sing it in the UK in 1985 either. He returned to 'Point Me' in 1991. In great style. He said, 'the song I used to sing many years ago..' Great DC's performance, and the fact that Wes Farrell was in the audience, makes this video very emotional to watch.
Only 1,6 views..How it's possible. DC was so happy singing this song again.

He sang 'Point Me' at his last ever concert at B.B.King's on March 4, 2017.
And at the end a kind of curiosity, I can't find the right word for it really, and I don't know what to think about it, but we have this article on the Website. Woken up in the middle of the night I would say that it was Tony Romeo who wrote 'Point Me'. DC even quoted Tony Romeo's words in his autobiography, how Romeo found the inspiration for that song.
When 'Point Me' was recorded the show wasn't on the air yet, but yes, DC was already written a lot in teen mags..But if really was such a contest why not given a name of the mag. Very strange.
