Every Little Bit O'You / Irwin Levine and L. Russell Brown

Another great song written by Irwin Levine and L. Russell Brown for The Partridge Family. Other ones are, 'I Woke Up In Love This Morning' of course, and 'Am I Losing You'. But I've thought about this song because Robin Silva has posted on David Cassidy Greatest Fans Group a very nice pic of DC and his stand-in Jan Freeman. Blame the weather (it's awfully hot), that while sitting in the shade on my veranda and doing nothing, I've been thinking (a little bit) about the 70s, DC and ..some girls. And this song.

Btw I've just noticed a comment under this video and who knows maybe it was actually written by Lawrence Brown himself, anyway he wrote 7 years ago, "My late great partner Irwin Levine and I both always felt besides our million selling  I Woke Up In Love This Morning -  This was the best song David did of ours. And I'll be eternally thankful to him for it." Really nice.

But let's return to the song. The lyrics, just for DC, one girl after another. He was young and so beautiful and there were so many only waiting for their chance. DC was always very sincere in the 70s, when asked about a girl friend in an interview from April 1971, "I don't have one ' he confessed, 'and I'm not really looking for a steady girl - I like to play the field. The columnists have been writing about my dating this girl and that girl, but it isn't true. As a matter of fact I haven't dated the same girl twice!"

And in another one, also April 1971, "I like happy, natural, unaffected girls - and girls who like me ', he smiles, 'I date different ones, because I really cannot be involved"

"Every Little Bit O'You' was on 'Shopping Bag' album released in March 1972, but it was used earlier in the episode 'I Can Get It For You Retail', Season 2 E 11, first aired on November 26, 1971. Besides being a stand-in double for DC, Jan Freeman also worked as an extra on the set. And she was an extra on that episode.

In April 1972, an article about her was published on 'Movie World". "Before she got the job she was an airline stewardess flying military to Vietnam. Picked up strawberries and worked as a model. She worked on the Monkees and Bobby Sherman Show as a double or stunt. What she thinks about David? - 'David's fantastic! He really does have this tremendous magnetism, charisma.' Have you ever dated David? 'No, we haven't. We've had lunch together and talked and joked around.'

But after 3 years she resigned from her work and according to her they did date after all..or even more, as we can read in this article
