David Cassidy in Europe. 1975

David Cassidy's first RCA album, 'The Higher They Climb, The Harder They Fall', was released by RCA in July 1975.

In the US, the UK, Spain, India, Germany, Turkey, Australia, Italy, Greece, Japan and Canada.

Maybe a song first. Most tracks on this album are great covers, or songs rewritten by David. The only original written by DC is 'When I'm A Rock'n'Roll Star'. The other one is 'Fix Of Your Love', co-written with a friend, Dave Ellingson. What a wonderful, exciting, funky, rock number. Just listen to it with your headphones on, let the music and David's voice take you higher. (if I can put it this way). I love this song.

Someone has written in comment, 'A shame American radio didn't play this'. And I'll add, 'A shame any radio, and even own DC's fans prefer admiring his pics than listen to his music. Only 1,3k views in 12 years.

The single from this album, 'I Write The Songs / Get It Up For Love', peaked at no 11 in the UK, exactly 49 years ago, on July 5, in total the single was on the chart only for 8 weeks. At the time, 49 years ago, in June and July of 1975, David Cassidy was in Europe promoting his new album, his first for RCA.

In London he was interviewed by Tony Blackburn for BBC, by Michael Aspel for Capital and by Peter Powell for Radio Luxembourg..but we don't have any recordings, only info about those interviews. We also know that he sang 'Darlin'' on Top Of The Pops, appeared on Today Show for Thames Television and again we can only read about those appearances. On June 25, 1975 he was on Jim'll Fix It show and we have this video on the website, but I don't want to watch it again. Once was enough.

'This Could Be The Night'. It's a cover but DC rewritten it to the point that it's like a new song. Again from Athena Camberos YT channel, always great quality of sound.

In July 1975 David Cassidy was in Germany and Holland. In Germany he guest starred on a show called 'Disco '75'. The program was aired on July 5.

David arrived in Holland at 10.15 on a flight from Frankfurt on July 3, and a few months ago I wrote a blog with the help and info from Marjon Hoogendam-Landmeter, who saw David Cassidy performed more than 100 times over the years, and met him in person over 40 times.

This is a fragment from that entry about DC visit in Holland, in July 1975.

"When David retired after the World Tour, a lot of fans forget about him. His singles and albums were still released but when he came again to Holland, on July 3, 1975 to promote his single 'I Write The Songs' / 'Get It Up For Love', there was only a couple of fans waiting for him. As he was no VIP anymore, he had to walk through the arrival hall and fans walked with David until he was outside and went into the taxi."

At the TopPop studio he filmed 2 clips, but they were never shown on TV.

He left Holland at 17.45 on July 4th on an Air France to Paris.

On July 10, 1975, on TOTP, the video with 'I Write The Songs' was aired.

Someone wrote in comment,"What I liked about Cassidy is that he didn't sound like anyone else. That's all you can ask for great soulful voice," Exactly.
