Going To Liverpool. 'Here Comes The Sun"

On the 24th of July, so the day after tomorrow, several British fans will meet in Liverpool, the event is called 'A Liverpool Connection' and in David Cassidy's case there were a lot of connections. It's impossible to write about everything in one entry. Today The Beatles connection.

It's not exaggeration to say that it all started in Liverpool, because of The Beatles' music. David Cassidy was perfect age, nearly 14, when like millions  of Americans he saw The Beatles on Ed Sullivan Show, 60 years ago, on February 9, 1964. David was learning their songs playing his first ever guitar.

!0 years later, he knew them all personally and recorded his own version of one of the greatest The Beatles' hits. I wish he had recorded more, 'Cassidy Sings The Beatles' that would have been something very special.

He knew well John and Paul, there is a pic on which we can see DC and Ringo Starr, but it wasn't David's style to brag about his famous friends, it was something private for him, so there is not a single pic with him and John or Paul. And George Harrison, we know about at least one opportunity they could have met.

On March 24, 1975, on board of Queen Mary, during that famous party organized by Paul and Linda McCartney. Among the 200 famous guests (including David) was George Harrison, and it was the first time Paul and George were seen socialising  together, since the break-up of The Beatles five years earlier.

We don't know if DC talked with George Harrison during that party, but we know that one George Harrison's song was very special for David. 'Here Comes The Sun'. I've read once an interview with DC in which he said that in the 80s when he was in the darkest, unhappy and in debt, this song brought him hope and light.

I'm not going to Liverpool to take part in the event, but at least was there twice a few years ago. I saw The Beatles Museum. Maybe I expected too much, I've been a fan all my life, and I couldn't stop thinking what John Lennon would have have thought about it. That he became a museum object..

Much more emotional was half an hour spent by me outside Echo Arena. Sitting on a bench and watching on my phone video with DC's performance there. His last ever concert in the UK. Echo Arena, Liverpool. November 17, 2012. Singing with the audience. The Beatles' song..
