Let The Sunshine In / Galt MacDermot, James Rado and Gerome Ragni
Someone has recently read my last year's entry about the 70s, the decade and its music, and David Cassidy's appearance on Jim Brickman's concert, called 'Celebration of the 70s'. The concert was at the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford, CT, on March 2, 2013.
Of course I've read this entry myself too. First of all to check for mistakes, but it was fun to watch those videos again.
Jim Brickman is an American songwriter, pianist and radio host, he was born in 1961, and in 1972 his mother took him to see David Cassidy in concert..

Wow that standing ovation..And later they performed 'Cherish'.

But for me the most moving fragment was at the end of the concert, when all stars who took part in it, were singing together. 'Let the Sunshine In', wrote in 1967 ('Hair), and 'Joy To the World', a huge hit in 1971 by Three Dog Night. Btw a DC connection here. In 1976 Jay Gruska, who wrote with David 'Hard Times, Hard Crimes' and 'I Never Saw You Coming', was briefly a member of Three Dog Night.

David Cassidy looked so happy singing those songs, he was a kid of the 60s, it was his decade; freedom, counterculture, social, cultural and sexual revolution, civil rights; they were never empty slogans for him. The music. Keith Partridge had Jimi Hendrix' poster in his room. And the peace sign. The Partridge Family's bus is also from the 60s..
A lot of songs recorded by David for Bell Records were covers of the 60's hits, including 'Cherish' and 'How Can I Be Sure'. 'For What Is Worth' and 'Please, Please Me'. 'Lonely Too Long', 'Go Now'. 'Puppy Song'. 'Daydream'. The list is long.
