That'll Be The Day / Tony Romeo

It has taken me some time to find the right song, the right title for today's blog. Yes what a day will be, one day in 2025, when the book called 'David Cassidy Once Upon A Picture'  by Henry Diltz & Johnny Ray Miller will be published.

Let's first listen to this gem of a song, 'That'll Be the Day', and watch Danny Bonaduce's unforgetable performance. He was so talented..

I've also thought about another title, 'This Could Be The Night', because Henry Diltz was a member of Modern Folk Quarter when this song was originally recorded by this folk group, in 1965. Henry Diltz  was first a musician, and quite a famous one, only later became interested in photography. All the famous artists he took photos of during his long career treated him as a friend, as one of his own, he happened to perform with them on stage, played on their recording sessions. Not only with David Cassidy of course. Henry Diltz also played harmonica on David's RCA albums and of on 'Cassidy Live!'

Let's watch this very old video from 1963, Modern Folk Quarter, and besides Henry Diltz there is also one other musician who played for DC in the 70s.

Henry Diltz will have birthday soon. He will be 86 on September 6. Yes, he was born in 1938, and he still is very active, and still looks soo cool. Amazing, what an example for all of us, 20 or a little more years younger than him. To be true to yourself and do what you love doing. Like Henry Diltz does.

Henry Diltz was the official photographer at Woodstock and at the Monterey Pop Festival, some of his photographs on album covers are iconic. He knew everybody and photographed the greatest. So many famous friends. But we know that Henry Diltz becomes emotional while talking about his friend, David, and the book we all are waiting for, is about and for David Cassidy.

Johnny Ray Miller. I'm sure 'David Cassidy Once Upon A Picture' would never have been written without him. He is also the author of 'When We're Singin'. The book about The Partridge Family music. We are sooo lucky that Johnny Ray Miller wrote his book, talked with all those wonderful, amazing musicians and songwriters, who created and recorded the music we all love and listen to everyday. We are so lucky, (I repeat it again) that he didn't wait, that he didn't postpone this great project. So many of those great musicians are not with us any longer.

And now we will get something even more exciting. Unpublished Henry Diltz photographs of David Cassidy, from every decade they knew each other, and the stories behind all those photos. And other friends' memories. A lot of hard work, I can only imagine, and unbelievable experience and adventure for Johnny Ray Miller. I hope he will tell us the story of making this book when it will be published.

It's so wonderful and so emotional and we can't wait..
