Let's Dance!

It's just amazing what a collection of articles we have on the David Cassidy Official Website. From every decade of David's career. The first one ever is from 1967, DC was 17, looking even younger, in this photo story called 'Surf City'.

We have all those gems thanks to Jane of course, and many fans all around the world who keep sharing those articles with us. There is so much of it that it's not at all easy to find the information, there are mags', newspapers' and web's articles, and this collection is constantly growing.

Recently, there have been published a few articles from 2007, about probably the least popular album recorded ever by David Cassidy. Released by 180 Music and Target, in February 2007, 'David Cassidy Part II : The Remix'.

DC said about this project, "The idea (of the album) was brought to me by Jim Brandmeier of 180 Music. He did a special series of CD's for Target stores, and felt that with a new spin, and with Craig J producing and remixng the tracks, we could have a hit.". David recorded fresh, exciting vocals. Let's watch this amazing tribute video, made by Ellie G. and listen to the dance version of ITILY.

That CD was available only at the Target's stores. It was a dance album, club rocking remixes of four of David's Billboard hits and seven Partridge Family's songs, including three vesrsions of 'C'mon Get Happy'. DC never wanted to be a nostalgia act, he was always ready to try something new, in life and in his career. He was so excited his son's friends thought these new versions of old hits so cool.

I've listened to this album again today. It was playing in a background while I did some housework. I can't say I like all of those remixes, but a few are really outstanding. You can feel that DC had a lot of fun recording again his hit from 1972. 'Rock me all night long..'

My favourite from this album is 'Cherish'. That version has more in common with the Association's original than with DC's own solo version from 1971. I'm sure it was him who wanted this way. Amazing and magical recording. Only 640 views..

So David Cassidy hoped old and new fans would like that CD. But that didn't happen. The album didn't create new fans and the old ones..There were a lot of disappointed fans who didn't like the changes he did in the old hits. They didn't want David to move forward, they wanted everything to stay the same. For some time DC played these new versions at his concerts, but in later years he gave up, he lost faith his fans ever let him change, and no longer had the strength to fight..
