Prayin' 4 A Miracle/ David Cassidy, Sue Shifrin, John Wetton
After my last entry I've got very interesting comments, and I want to write about some of them. Thank you. I turned off comments on the blog because of one or two unpleasanst persons, but I publish new entries on David Cassidy Great Britain Legacy Group and David Cassidy-Greatest Fans Group, and you can comment there. I appreciate every single one about what I write.
Marjon Hoogendam-Landmeter reminded me that David, Sue and John Wetton together wrote one more song, recorded in 1989, and released in 1990 on Asia album called Then&Now. Not the best in Asia catalog. Interesting lyrics, it looks like written by David himself, about hitting bottom, 'can't sink no lower than this'. The video was made in Moscow in 1990, in that difficult time after communism collapsed in Soviet Union, and the band played a concert there in November 1990.
John Wetton had a great voice himself. He was an English very talented musician, singer and songwriter. He played in many iconic English groups. King Crimson, Roxy Music, Uriah Heep, Wishbone Ash, he was a co- founder of Asia and its lead vocalist. David and John were friends.
John Wetton died at the same age as David. He was older than DC by exactly 10 months (born on June 12, 1949), and died 10 months before David, on January 31, 2017. I know it's just a coincidence. John Wetton died of cancer.

There were also some comments about another song written by DC, Sue Shifrin and John Wetton, 'I'll Never Stop Loving You'. Released on 'Didn't You Used To Be' in 1992, by Scotti Bros.
I absolutely adore this song and prefer David's duet with Treana Morris to Cher's or Heart's more known versions. But it looks some fans think this song would have been better if DC was singing it all by himself. I think it's great that we have different opinions on DC's music legacy, and I'm sure David Cassidy would have thought the same. His songs still generate emotions, we still discuss them, his legacy is alive.

But it's an interesting question why DC recorded this song at all. Cher released it on her album 'Love Hurts' in June 1991, only a year before DC. And 'Heart' even earlier.
'Didn't You Used To Be' was released in 1992 by Scotti Brothers. Sue Shifrin wrote, or co wrote all songs on this album, and later, while recording his next album in 1998, David made a point of not working with his wife again, (and told this in many interviews)
Let's return to 1992 and the duet with Treana Morris. I think t was Scotti Bros Records idea. Treana was a young English singer, 'discovered' by Roger Taylor (the Queen's drummer), and she just signed a contract with Scotti Brothers. Btw David wrote nothing directly about 'Didn't You Used To Be' in his autobiography. Only in this one sentence we can find what he thought about his 1992 album. "I think Old Trick, New Dog is a good record. This album is not overproduced like the previous album." That's all and it's rather meaningful.
Once more 'I'll Never Stop Loving You', this time by Heart.
