'To Be Lovers' / Mark Charron
and a very special Christmas song.
It happened that on this day, 54 years ago, The Partridge Family Season 1 Episode 11, titled 'This Is My Song', was first aired. Do you know that DC had to change his/Keith's clothes 8 times on the set of it ? And that makeup. It must have been sooo boring and tiring.
Anyway there was only one song in this episode, 'To Be Lovers', which must have looked a little bit (can't find the word, surreal? strange?) for viewers at the tme. Not only because the song was meant to be written by a kid and a teen, but first of all because on December 4, 1970 'I Think I Love You' still topped Billboard Hot 100, but the viewers of this episode could hear David's voice just for a few seconds. Or maybe it was for the better, at least everybody could hear how good he was compared with the session singers.
On the website we had 2 versions of that song, fragment of the original recording

and the whole song, with DC's true voice, altered by John Gomolka. What a shame the whole song is not sung by David Cassidy.

And one more song I wish he'd recorded. 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas', you know with a big band, like Frank Sinatra did. Instead we have only this short fragment, just a part of a skit. December 2, 2005, Late Night with Conan O'Brien'.

The Partridge Family's version from 1971. So beautiful harmonies, and this fragment..it's made me really emotional watching it today, and watching them. Suzanne Crough, Dave Madden and David..wishing us Merry Christmas.
