"To You And All Your Family.."

I've been writing Christmas cards (traditional kind) and one of them was to my dear American friend, and without thinking what I was doing I wrote at the end, 'To you and all your family, your neighbors and your friends, may all your days be happy with a joy that never ends..'. That's the power of this very special song, considered by many to be one of the best in Partridge Family's catalog.

It's really hard not to be moved, the song captures the spirit of that time, David Cassidy's vocal, he sings so effortlessly, so natural, as if he personally wished us Merry Christmas. There is such a tremendous joy and magic in that song. We can see (imagine) those decorated houses everywhere, falling snow..

Tony Romeo, who btw. was born on Christmas Day in 1938, found in David the perfect singer for his wonderful bitter-sweet pop masterpieces, and 'My Christmas Card To You' should have been a Christmas standard, known by everybody.

The Partridge Family Christmas album was recorded on August 25, 26 and 28, 1971. Released in November. Recorded by legendary musicians, Dennis Budimir, Louie Shelton, Max Bennett, Mike Melvoin, Hal Blaine. Backing vocals, Jackie Ward, John and Tom Bahler, John Hicklin. Produced by Wes Farrell, who also was born in December, 85 years ago, in 1939.

Isn't it wonderful..That longing in his voice, sadness and hope, so dreamy and magical. A song everybody knows, but DC managed to add something special from himself.

The Partridge Family Christmas Card album was a huge hit. It was the best selling Christmas album in the US during the holiday season of 1971, number 1 album on the Billboard Special Christmas Album Sales Chart for four weeks..
