Ask David Anything.

A song first. I have some CD's in my car with David's solo and Partridge Family's music ; I love all of them, but there is always that extra thrill when the chosen at random CD turns out to be 'Cherish'.

Amazng. He didn't like the famous 'but' in 1973. Probably it was Wes Farrell's invention, added to further increase sales.

I have a lot of cuttngs from Mirabelle. Got from my English friend who collected them in the early 70s. I brought them home a few years ago, from England, and truly speaking didn't read them. After all 1. they were written for teens, 2. David probably had nothing to do with them. I think his PR person gave some info, or maybe even DC himself during a phone call, but no way he did write them himself.

So there was a column in Mirabelle called 'Ask David Anythng'. I know nothing about the dates, because my friend didn't think about the future readers, and her cuttings are without basic info.

Yesterday I read all the questions fans asked David Cassidy, probably in 1973. All fans were listed by name and place. And I read all  David's answers. It was very emotional read. Maybe he really answered some of them himself. David did a lot for his fans, he knew how this kind of personal connection was important for those girls and boys.. Yes, of course it was not a charity work, and teen mags' publishers earned a lot of money because of him. There were also flexi discs, like this one released in 1973. Put out by Melanie magazine, featured  a message from David to his fans in the UK.

Fans asked David very different questions, some naive or funny, eg. if he believed in life on other planets, and a David Cassidy living somewhere there ? Or if he ever saw a flying saucer - No, he didn't. Who did all his cooking? - He often ate out, and sometimes a current girlfriend cooked for him.  What about dating a taller girl than him -  no problem of course for DC. There were serious questions. About the worst moment of his life or if he ever was afraid on a plane. Did he consider himself a nervous person? Did he ever was fed up with being David Cassidy? Did he read all magazines and articles written about him? (No)

And there were also very moving questions and very sincere answers. Let me give you one example. Karen from Kent asked David Cassidy, "What is the thing which you hold most dear to you?" And he answered, "That's a tough one, but I do have an answer for you. I think there is one thing that is most dear to me, and that is my personal life.(...) There really isn't just one thing that I like to keep secret from you, my fans, but from time to time things do crop up in my life, personal, private things that I like to keep to myself. I hope you understand."
