David Cassidy In Spain

A lot of new articles, notes and posters from the early 70s have been published recently on the Official Website of David Cassidy. And maybe for some fans they are not interesting, but I read everything.

The sheer number of them show how David was famous in the UK and Europe 50 years ago..

I'm especially happy for Spanish mags covers, because so far we haven't had much info about DC in Spain, and I'm sure it's just the beginning. My FB friend, Encarni, has told me that David was often written about in Spanish press. On such mags as 'Hola', 'Lecturas', 'Semana' and 'Diez Minutos'.

Actually Encarni and another FB friend Araceli, didn't value 'Pronto' (the mag we have on the website), because one 'Pronto's  journalist didn't like David.

Except Pronto covers with DC, we have one article published on Diez Minutos, in May 1978. David visited his wife, Kay Lenz, when she was working on the set of the film called 'Passage'. Directed by J.Lee Thompson, with very impressive cast, it was shot on location in the Pyrenees. The film premiered in 1979 and it was a flop, even worse, a disaster.

Of course we are so happy to have this article (and wonderful pics) on the website.

DC visited Spain twice in the 70s. The first time in early March 1973, where he guest starred on 'Estelar Del Sabado, singing live 'Could It Be Forever' and 'Rock Me Baby'. It's one of those lost David's TV videos,  appeared out of the blue on YT nearly two years ago.

David had a great time in Spain in 1973, enjoyed the company of beautiful ladies, some skiing and learning flamenco. Several years ago Araceli made amazing, wonderful video about his unforgettable visit.

We also know that David was in Spain once more, in July 1975 ; at the time he was doing a promotional tour in Europe, promoting his first RCA album and 'I Write The Songs' single. DC was to meet journalists and music critics in Benidorm, a popular city near Alicante, where at the time a big music festival was taking place. But something went wrong. According to one Spanish article DC on his way to Alicante stopped at one restaurant, and was angry when some photographers (who followed him) wanted to take pics of him there. He was an hour late for the press conference and the journalists didn't like it, didn't understand his jokes and smiles... anyway DC was boycotted, booed, no pics were taken, no questions asked..

Maybe it was one of the reasons David Cassidy didn't appear in person on Spanish TV in 1985, when he promoted his 'Romance' album in Europe.  Only the video with 'Last Kiss' was shown.
