David, Andy And Archie

And Bob Colacello, a writer, for 13 years Andy Warhol's ghost writer, and a very close collaborator, a part of his entourage.

On July 25, 1975 they spent some time together at this famous hotel. The Plaza. Only Bob still lives (he was born in 1947). Andy Warhol died in 1987, David 30 years later, and Archie..he was just a small dachshound. DC asked, "And who's this?' Andy Warhol, 'Archie'.

There was also present a OUI mag reporter (compering with OUI, Playboy or Penthouse were mags for little kids).

The photographs were taken (or belong to) Lynn Goldsmith. And of course also Andy Warhol's took some famous  DC's  polaroid photos. They are in a museum now, we can read about them here.

Maybe a song first. In July 1975 David Cassidy was promoting his solo RCA album, first in Europe, later in the States. So something from 'The Higher They Climb, The Harder They Fall'. Btw 2 days ago on the page called, 'Best Classic Bands' appeared an article, '1975 : The Year In Music', and David's wonderful concept album was included on this rather short and impressive list.

David Cassidy was 25 years old, still a superstar, his voice and the way he looked...We can read at the beginning of this interview, 'DC is wearing very tight white satin pants, a blue-and-pink print shirt open very low, a thin gold necklace, white sneakers without socks and tinted aviator glasses'.

The interview took place at David Cassidy's suite at The Plaza. For Andy's 'Interview Magazine's October issue. I know only a fragment of this interview and hope one day we'll get a copy of this issue for the Website.

I've made a print of this famous photo, just for myself, and it's now standing on my desk. I look at it and think that I'll be in New York City also on July 25, exactly 50 years after David Cassidy and Andy Warhol (not to say about Archie) met. It'll be my first day in NYC, and my hotel is not so far away from the Plaza.

25 July, 1975. It was Friday. The same will be in 2025.

Andy Warhol asked DC, " What are you in town for? It's too hot in New York'
DC, "I'm in town to hang out'
AW, "Are just just in from California for a few days?'
DC, 'I was in Europe for about five weeks doing some promotion and I flew to L.A for about three days and I got sick - the smog was so bad, the air was so filthy. It was really a low experience. Now I'm going on about three-week tour of the States, not doing concerts but meeting people in the record company, doing some press things- promotion"
He was also asked about Yoko Ono..and who knows what else was in that interview. I've once had much longer part of it but can't find it now.

I still can't believe I can make it. I've bought air tickets, all is booked, in NYC and West Orange. All because of David Cassidy.. Isn't it amazing?
