David Cassidy On The Oprah Winfrey Show

The episode with David Cassidy for The Oprah Winfrey Show, was taped in Chicago on February 6, 2008.

2008 was a year to remember for David. Impressive Ups and Downs. Let's talk about Ups today.

In May, 3 year-old Sweet Vendetta, a horse bred and co-owned by DC, won in the mile and eight Grade II, $200,000 Black Eyed Susan stakes, at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore.
One of the most prestigious race in the USA, and for DC that victory was like a dream came true - bliss and sheer happiness. The biggest, the most important achievement in his career as horseman and horse breeder, and as we know he bought his first horse when he was still a teen idol, in the early 70s.

I think that guest appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show was also very important for David. A proof that he was a star in his native country,  And he was welcomed by screaming and enthusiastic audience. We have a review of that episode published on www.oprah.co. The title -  'The Teen Dream'. And, "Watch a room full of grown women lose their minds and their clothes, David Cassidy is here!"

In 2008 The Oprah Winfrey Show was still aired nationally with an average audience of 7 millon viewers. The highest-rated talk show in American TV history. What DC was talking about? The usual things of course, we know those stories by heart, about his loneliness and performing all over the world for thousands of people (I love DC but he never performed for 70k people), it was PR and his legend and I understand it. But it was funny to hear that his only date in the 70s was his future wife (Sue Shifrin was in  audience)..

I watched this program a few years ago, and I remember being impressed by David's courage because at the end of the show he performed a dance version of 'I'll Meet You Halfway', but when I wanted to see it today again on YT, I discovered that video with this episode was blocked, and the only copy we have is  on The Official Website of David Cassidy.

Only a very small fragment of The Oprah Winfrey Show from 1987 is still on YT. It was the famous episode about groupies, and we can see some of them, also Barbara The Butter Queen (btw she died in a fire in 2018), and David talking about meeting her..

He talked about his career, his loneliness while on top, TPF, the friendship with John Lennon, his children. The audience was very happy, dancing and singing with him..DC looked happy and very satisfied, and he talked a lot..he was really a very good actor..'always the same routine..'
