I Think I Love You ..the book.

The first David Cassidy's biographies appeared in the early 70s. They were written eg. by a man who knew DC in the 60s, or a journalist who interviewed him many times. There are a lot of books featuring DC or TPF because they are part of the music history and pop culture. In recent years fans have got really beautifully edited books written by Johnny Ray Miller - When We're Singing - The Partridge Family & Their Music , Louise Poynton - Cherish David Cassidy A Legacy Of Love, and Marlene Habib's books.' Cherish' got a book award and can be found in bookstores . It's great to see a book on DC among other musical biographies. At last.

But ..those books are for fans..Even David's autobiographies which were bestsellers for a while (especially in the UK) are mostly for them. But there is one book read not only by fans..

It was probably in 2012. I was visiting my parents, and in my mum's bedroom I was looking through the books on the bedside table (I'm a librarian, and this is sth I do everywhere - look what books people have and maybe even read). And my mum loves reading crime stories and  romances. So I didn't expect anything very interesting..The book looked like a typical romance with rather a stupid title , it was in Polish of course..and I even said  to my mum sth about another bad translation..What an awkward title..And I repeated  it loud several times and suddenly..

'Mum , what this book is  about?'
"A new Allison Pearson's'
'Who?'
'I've told you about her but of course you haven't listened to..'
'Sorry , but can you tell me once again..? Please.'
'It's about a woman  who tries to be a great mother, and a great wife and also has an own career. It's really very well written..I mean her first book was about that mother and this is her second one, and your daughter has bought it for me, she listens to what I say.'
'And that second book is about..?'
'Mother and daughter relationship and divorce, new love, very very interesting..and also about one singer from the 70s, but I can't remember him being on your wall (this is a post about singers on my wall :
'And his name is maybe..David Cassidy?'
'Yes, the one. Have you heard about him?'
'A little bit..Mum, can I borrow this book?'

I read it that night. Wow..to get to know that story from the fans point of view. And to learn that even for those lucky ones who were born in the UK and not in a communist country like me, for those who had those albums, posters, could go and see him in concert, also for them David was  like someone from another planet..I smiled when I read about Petra at school, it was really the same in Poland..and I was happy that she found new love with David Cassidy's help. And Polish translation is really exceptional and I've never read that book in English so far..
