'I'm On My Way Back Home / Bobby Hart and Jack Keller.

Since Bobby Hart died, on September 10, 2025, I've been listening to the songs he co-wrote for The Partridge Family (with Wes Farrell, Danny  Janssen, Tommy Boyce or Jack Keller), and the one David recorded in 1979 (Hurt So Bad).  Wonderful songs, all of them, but 'I'm On My Way Back Home', especially now after West Orange David Cassidy Event, gained additional, emotional significance. Beacuse we really brought him home in July. To the place where everything started, to West Orange in New Jersey. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSExKeJlc3Q What a voice David had. This song in his interpretation should have been regarded as a pop masterpiece.  I've been reading  Joseph Fagan's 'Stories Of West Orange' for some time, looking for places mentioned on the town map and its surroundings, and reading additional info, looking at photos of West Orange published online.  Joseph Fagan writes about West Orange and its inhabitants with love, understanding for human we...

'Wow, That Cat Can Sing!'

Too good quote to not use it as a catchy title. From Johnny Ray Miller's book of course, my new source of fascinating, unknown information as well as many emotions.  Reading about David Cassidy, how he is remembered by people who worked with him in the early 70s, who were witnesses to his rise to the top, his struggles. His insane schedule. Everyone repeats how great a professional he was. And that he was smiling a lot, and very kind, a great guy and how  wonderful was working with him, because he appreciated the talent of the musicians.  But there were also a lot of things he couldn't stand regarding the show and its music, sometimes, especially on Monday morning (after playing concerts at the weekend), it was better to get out of his way. And that he was ambitious and as Louie Sheldon said, "He always had this little bit of a serious side to him." (Johnny Ray Miller, When We're Singin ', Negley. Ohio, 2020, p.265.) How not to love and miss David Cassidy, he...

I Heard You Singing Your Song / Barry Mann

Image
"And then I heard you sing a simple song, and the sun came rushin' back to fill my soul.." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miD6zZwRPVs Yes, 55 years ago, in September 1970, millions of girls and boys heard for the first time David Cassidy singing. 'I Think I Love You' was already released (in summer), and in September 1970, the first Partridge Family's album. Excitement and emotions related to preparing for my trip to New York and West Orange, and the stay there, made me completely forget that in September we will be celebrating the 55th anniversary.  I only remembered while reading Johnny Ray Miller's great book, bought by me in West Orange in July. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0K1p51pBLo Reading 'When We're Singin", 55 years after the show's debute and the recording and release of The Partridge Family Album, is an amazing and very emotional process. So many things to think about, new info (for me), at last I've learnt more about ...
