'I'm On My Way Back Home / Bobby Hart and Jack Keller.
Since Bobby Hart died, on September 10, 2025, I've been listening to the songs he co-wrote for The Partridge Family (with Wes Farrell, Danny Janssen, Tommy Boyce or Jack Keller), and the one David recorded in 1979 (Hurt So Bad).
Wonderful songs, all of them, but 'I'm On My Way Back Home', especially now after West Orange David Cassidy Event, gained additional, emotional significance. Beacuse we really brought him home in July. To the place where everything started, to West Orange in New Jersey.

What a voice David had. This song in his interpretation should have been regarded as a pop masterpiece.
I've been reading Joseph Fagan's 'Stories Of West Orange' for some time, looking for places mentioned on the town map and its surroundings, and reading additional info, looking at photos of West Orange published online.
Joseph Fagan writes about West Orange and its inhabitants with love, understanding for human weaknesses, often with compassion or with pride. He is a true hstorian, he understands the value and meaning of local heritage and what we can learn from past generations. He writes in introduction those how true words, 'History (...) is like meeting an old friend who knows who we are' and 'Some may say history is dead, but it is alive and well.' (Joseph Fagan, Stories of West Orange', The Hstory Press, Charlston, 2014, p.8)

Reading this wonderful book makes me miss West Orange, and dream of coming there again and get to know the place better, there was no time in July, and I knew nothing about West Orange. Now I know much more. Watchhung Mountains. South Mountain Reservation. Crystal Lake and Eagle Rock Reservation. I know how they look, these are not just names now. How would be wonderful to have annual David Cassidy Walk in West Orange !
West Orange celebrated David Cassidy nearly 2 months ago. But this story is not over yet. David really returned home and West Orange is really the place where he would be cherished by the town inhabitants and fans from all over the world. And yesterday Shaun Cassidy was there with his son. He couldn't attend the dedication in July, but he asked Katie Cassidy to read his letter to us, "West Orange, New Jersey, is where my big brother David's heart always lived. (..) I look forward to proudly walking down David Cassidy Way when I'm next in New Jersey this fall. Sending much love and gratitude to you all"
We are sending you much love and gratitude dear Shaun Cassidy. Your visit is so emotinal for us, his fans. Shaun's post about his visit to West Orange has been viewed by thousands of people, shared nearly 400 times, who knows how many people this way will get to know about David Historical Marker and David Cassidy Way, and maybe decide to vist David's hometown. Yes, this story will never end.
