I Heard You Singing Your Song / Barry Mann

"And then I heard you sing a simple song, and the sun came rushin' back to fill my soul.."

Yes, 55 years ago, in September 1970, millions of girls and boys heard for the first time David Cassidy singing. 'I Think I Love You' was already released (in summer), and in September 1970, the first Partridge Family's album.

Excitement and emotions related to preparing for my trip to New York and West Orange, and the stay there, made me completely forget that in September we will be celebrating the 55th anniversary.  I only remembered while reading Johnny Ray Miller's great book, bought by me in West Orange in July.

Reading 'When We're Singin", 55 years after the show's debute and the recording and release of The Partridge Family Album, is an amazing and very emotional process. So many things to think about, new info (for me), at last I've learnt more about Tony Romeo and Wes Farrell (and many others).

Those priceless interviews. At the end of the book Johnny Ray Miller thanks to all those interviewed for 'When We're Singin". Those who, 'have given the fans what they have wanted for so many years.' The list is so long. Great and very familiar for us names, but so many of those wonderful musicians, songwriters, filmmakers, producers, journalists, actors, have passed away since 2016 when the book was published..Johnny really made it at the last moment.

55 years..that's a lot of time. I've watched some episodes recently. Of course for us the show and its music haven't aged at all. But one episode,  the one with a skunk, I watched with my grandsons (7 and 5 years old), and they loved it. We later talked a lot about skunks in general, and the geography and nature of the US. They loved the idea of making sick children in hospital happy..They want to watch more.
