Tomorrow /Paul & Linda McCartney/

I listened to this song a few days ago.

The original. Written by Paul and Linda McCartney, recorded by Wings in 1971..It's charming, made me think about  and miss English parks (the pic on this post is mine, Stratford, 2018). It's a lovely song, a happy man singing, he knows he is going to spend some great time, he loves and he is loved..the end..

And let's talk about David Cassidy's version. From 'Home Is Where The Heart Is', 1976. It's quite a different story..It's not charming. It's full of passion..pain even..This guy will go out of town with that (lucky) girl, whatever the weatherman says. They will take some food..but..the bread and cheese are not the most important.

David Cassidy was an amazing interpreter. A lot of his songs are covers, but when he sang something, he had a reason. What was a meaning in a song..for him, what he could add from his experiences, and he wasn't afraid to show his emotions..

And the way he looked in that video..His outfit..moves..his hair..No one wore long hair like David in the 70s. His (or rather Keith Partridge hairstyle), known in the UK as a 'feather cut' is one of his contributions to pop culture..And it's fascinating to watch how David's hairstyle (and colours) keeps changing through the years.

In the first few Partridge Family's episodes David's hair looked gorgeous of course..but quite ordinary, very quickly experimenting started to find the best, sexy look for a new teen idol..with fringe, or parted in the middle, hair behind ears..or on the contrary, longer with each season till season 4th where he had the longest hair on the set, and didn't look like a teen anymore..No way..We all remember his performance on the Heathrow's tarmac, white suit..and his incredible gorgeous, long , shining hair..

When he cut it after the Word Tour, in October of 1974, it was quite a sensation. Of course it was a statement, a symbol of the new life for David. With this new hair he looked not like a teen idol, but like a very young, vulnerable boy..

I've started with Sir Paul's song and finished with David Cassidy's hair.Sorry...but it's not easy to be in quarantine (and still some days ahead of me)..
