All Because Of You /Sue Shifrin, Jon Lind/

The album 'David Cassidy' was released in October 1990 by Enigma Records, in the U.S only on CD and casette , in Germany on vinyl. produced by E.T.Thorngren and Phil Ramone.

David Cassidy told many times how he had been a victim of industry again, that because Enigma 'went belly up' ,his album wasn't as successful as it should have been. It's a good opportunity for me to write that as much as I'm a loyal fan , some things DC kept telling through the years was ..PR.. of course it's  nothing unusual in showbusiness..But let's first listen (again , I know) to my favourite song from that album, written by David and Sue.

The album stayed on the charts for 12 weeks, and peaked at number 136, the single 'Lyin' To Myself' was the first top 30 hit in the U.S. for David in 18 years. I think that it was a fantastic achivement. The song was number 27 on November17, 1990. David was a guest on many tv programmes (I've counted those on the website - 37), like Good Morning America, MTV, CNNshowbiz, Fox News, Arsenio Hall Show, Regis&Kathie Lee to name a few, he gave awards at MTV Music Awards and International Rock Awards, there were radio interviews, he was touring the country and met with fans at music stores..Here is DC singing live 'Lyin' To Myself' on Paul Rodriguez Show

The album was very well or even better, produced, both producers were very known people in music industry , DC had amazing, top session musicians - John Wetton (King Crimson, ASIA), Phil Ramone, Jeff Baxter (Steely Dan, Dobbie Brothers), Mark Spiro, Michael Dan Ehmig Michael Thompson..It was a very good mainstream, AOR, soft rock , very enjoyable , elegant (if I can use such word) album. It's biggest advantage was David, his fantastic, sexy but also heartfelt , mature voice. I love what he did with Hi Heel Sneakers, it is a blues classic, not rock, I love Labour of Love..and to have an album on Billboard 200 was really something , but of course it wasn't a comeback DC had dreamed of himself..

But why it wasn't more successful..Enigma Records...It was a popular rock and alternative record label launched in 1981, but already in 1989 was formally aquired by Capitol, and Capitol became the owner of Enigma's catalog. That's all...I think we can find the answer to that question also in the articles on DC from 1990..Everybody wrote how great he looked, that he still had long hair..women still run after him..fans didn't forget him ,etc..but it's difficult to find some serious reviews on his new music. At the time there were many albums like David's..recorded by ..much younger musicians..Don't get me wrong, I like this album very much..and I think it was his great comeback, he did what he could to promote it..and I think DC had a lot of satisfaction , that he made it again, especially that it was in his native country. And after all ,  it came time that the album didn't matter so much for DC any more..In 1990 Sue and David were waiting for their first child.

This is a great video with DC's clips from the 90's - 'Stranger In Your Heart'
