Danny, Larry, Michael, Tim, Billy..Part 2
David was very satisfied with his role on Marcus Welby:
"My acting was lame on my first couple of shows, but I was really pleased with the job I did on Marcus Welby. I played a diabetic youth who, as a way to punish his father, wouldn't take his insulin. I had to do some highly emotional stuff.' (David Cassidy: Could It Be Forever?', 2007)
'Marcus Welby' was aired in January 1970, and in February David Cassidy appeared on NBC twice. On February 14th on 'Adam-12', Episode 2.17 - 'A Rare Occasion'. DC played Tim Richmond, a purse thief focused on being jailed, a young boy on drugs with his dealer out to kill him..You can watch a whole episode on the DC Official Website, David appeared at 11 min

DC looked very young, very vulnerable, he was noticed and praised for his acting. The boys he played were sensitive youngsters with complicated relationships with their fathers or stepfathers. But not only the TV and film industry looked with interest at Jack Cassidy's son, girls and with every day more girls noticed his beautiful eyes and on - screen charisma. And editors of teen magazines announced an emergency..as they sensed a future teen idol. David appeared on the cover of Fave in May 1970 issue. His picture was the smallest, the largest Bobby Sherman's photo. In June - his first Tiger Beat's cover.
But let's return to February. On 15th, an episode of Bonanza was aired on NBC again, the title - 'The Law and Billy Burgess' with DC in the title role.

'It's a thrilling emotional performance, and an early signal of how much pure potential this young actor was working with. It also includes breathtaking views Cassidy fits right in as a young misunderstood rebel cowboy. He looked more like young Clint Eastwood than future Ricky Nelson..' (MeTV Chicago 'Before David Cassidy was squeaky- clean Keith P., he was convincing teen-rebel', November22, 2017)
On April 1st was aired an episode of Medical Centre (1.24), called 'His Brother's Keeper', David played Rick Lambert.
On April 17, The Mod Squad, episode 2.26, 'The Loser', DC played Brad.

And 'This Is The Life' episode called 'In a Quiet Place' aired somewhere in 1970. David portrays , a teenage boy's confrontation with the problem of premarital sex. Another title of that series was 'The Fisher Family', a long running religious series featuring dramatisations of contemporay problems.
I know that 50 years ago it was difficult for the tv actors start working in the film industry, starring in movies. Mark Hamill, a little bit younger than David (he was born in September 1951), started his career in 1970, and had a string of very good also dramatic roles. I remember watching him in the 70s, in an episode of 'The Streets Of San Francisco', and he was great. He got his first movie role after 7 years of tv career. In ..'Star Wars'
But it's impossible not to think ..what would have happened if..
David onThe Mod Squad..
