It happens to me a lot, maybe not 'everywhere I go', but quite often, that I want to say..:'But David Cassidy..', and sometimes I say something and sometimes I don't. Btw Louise Poynton has found such a great title for her podcast, DC Connections, there are so many.

And last Sunday around noon I drove to my town to fetch a guest from a train, and to my astonishment there was literally nowhere to park. Normally at that hour on Sunday our town is deserted, but not that time. There was a really impressive flea market with a lot of sellers and buyers not only from Warsaw, but also from other parts of Poland. Because my guest missed the train I had some free time, and I spend there a very nice hour.

One more song from 'Shopping Bag', great DC vocal performance 'Something New Got Old'. This song would have been much better (in my opinion of course) without that background singing, those Aaaaaaa...just  the David's voice.

You must know that about 90% of Warsaw was destroyed at the end of the World War II, people lost things passed from one generation to another, so such a flea market with a lot of really old furniture, clocks, paintings etc are something extraordinary. There were wonderful porcelain figurines and hand made old jewellery, and books and yes, vinyl records. And of course I couldn't help myself and stopped by one stall and started browsing. Serious stuff. Emerson Lake and Palmer (everything including Works and Pictures at an Exibition performed with an orchestra)), King Crimson, the same..and Yes, and Pink Floyd, mostly progressive rock.

Maybe pop music now, the most famous song from Shopping Bag

I started talking with the seller,  older than me, maybe 5 years, anyway we found out that he worked as a bouncer at the famous student club I used to go when I was at high school. He laughed 'we always let pretty girls in'. hahaha. Anyway he was impressed by my knowledge of English music and at one moment he said :

'I tell you something, but don't laugh, I started learning playing guitar after all those years'
'Acoustic, electric or bass?'
'I started with an acoustic, but now I have 3 electric and equipment and a famous private teacher' (a retired known Polish guitarist)
'Nice.. I can tell you something too. I started writing a blog about music.'
'Wow ! What kind?'
'...the 70's pop..mostly' (sorry David)

Wow, the look on his face, as if all his teeth suddenly hurt..'Aaaa..Pop music from the 70s..Teen idols..'

I must have looked a little offended because he bent over and wishpered :
'Actually I have 2 pop albums, but those guys are still great.' And he showed me : Elton's 'Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The Piano Player' and 'Wings Over America'. I opened my mouth to say ' Actually those great guys respected and befriended a teen idol and I can tell you a lot of interesting stories..'. But I didn't say anything and bought Elton. The album with that song..

  1. Hi Weronika, thank you so much for sharing that wonderful video of David and the Partridge Family singing "Every Song is You." I love that song, and I love the way David sings it! Thank you so much also for sharing about the flea market. My Mom & Dad used to like to go to the flea market, and enjoyed bringing us along. I was able to find some David magazines, etc. there. That is where I found a lot of my David things. I enjoyed the conversation you had with the gentleman who likes the 70's music. Even though he did not say he is a David fan, he still likes the 70's music. Sometimes you can have some very interesting conversations with people who sell records, etc. that you like, and sell things that you are interested in. Thank you again for doing David's blog!
