I have nothing against Halloween. On the contrary. We didn't have it when Poland was a communist country and I was a teen, and now kids here enjoy it the same way as other kids all around the world.

I appreciate it even more than you could think. I studied librarianship, my specialisation was children's literature, books wrote for and..by kids, and we spent a lot of interesting hours with our promotor discussing the meaning of tales, traditional, folk and copyright. And why kids like to be scared. Why it's important.

But every country has own traditions, and here in Poland, not Halloween, but  All Saints Day on the 1st of November is very important. It has a very long tradition, and the origin of it is pre- Christianity. 

So people visit cementaries, light candles and put flowers, meet with relatives ..I hated that day when I was a teen, It seemed so stupid going on the other side of the country in your best clothes, just to stand over someone's grave..And that small talk with distant relatives..Now of course I know why it's important.

I can't go this year, but I will visit our local cementary and light a candle on a forgotten grave, it's also a tradition. This is such a day, we forget about politics, even on tv.. instead we remember people ..those loved ones, the members of our families, friends, but also people important for all of us.

November..it will be an eventful month for me, we will be remembering David Cassidy more than usual. And I've thought that we shouldn't forget about remembering Stephanie Lawrence, David's co-star not only in 'Time'. Just a little bit older than DC, she was born in December 1949.

She died on November 4, 2000.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not writing today's blog just to gossip about DC's private life, it's because I always admired that amazing woman, Kay Ann Lenz. She had birthday yesterday. 3 years younger than David, a few years older than a typical DC's fan.  In the 70s I heard quite a lot about Kay Lenz . She was very popular in Poland, like the rest of the cast of 'Rich Man, Poor Man'. That tv series was shown in my country I think in 1978, and everybody watched it, also a lot was written about the cast. So one day I read that Kay's husband was a former teen idol, David Cassidy. There was also a pic and I thought that it was just wonderful, I thought they were the most beautiful couple in the world. There was something very moving about Kay. Listening to his young, sincere, innocent and magical voice is one in a kind moving experience. 'I Just Hated Being In The Show..'

Last week someone posted a screenshot of the article from May 1974, unfortunately without the date or the name of the paper. Written by a popular journalist Roderick Gilchrist, I think it was Daily Express. We can read that this interview took place at London Weekend Television's Building, on the day before the DC's last concert in Manchester.  And David said, "I feel like the door to the cage has just been opened. And, any minute now I'm going to be able to fly right away from my prison.
