'Tomorrow' and 'Here Comes The Sun'

David and The Beatles again. This time because of George Harrison.

We all know about the DC's friendship with John Lennon, and he also knew Paul McCartney quite well.

In 1975 David was one of the guests invited on board the famous cruise liner, the Queen Mary, at Long Beach in California. Celebration party for the recording end of the Paul McCartney and Wings highly anticipated album, 'Venus and Mars'. After the great success of their previous album, 'Band On The Run', fans and music critics all over the world were waiting for it. Even in communist Poland. I remember when I heard 'Venus and Mars' for the first time on Polish Radio. Maybe I even read about that party, but of course had no idea DC was there.

The party took place on March 24, 1975, and thanks to Henry Diltz we have one pic from it with David, in conversation with his friends from 'America', Dan Peek and Dewey Bunnell . There were about 200 guests, amazing names. George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Marvin Gaye, Harry Nilsson, The Jackson Five, Cher and Bono, Jose Feliciano, Phil Everly, Micky Dolenz and Davy Jones and many more.

And of course DC recorded an amazing cover of a Paul McCartney song. Tomorrow. It should have been a great hit..

What a fabulous, wonderful singer David was..He could sing everything.

We don't know if David met and talked with George Harrison during that party. It wasn't his style to brag about acquaintances, it speaks volumes about DC that there is not a single pic with him and John Lennon or Paul McCartney. But we know how he loved The Beatles..

Anyway today I'm thinking about George Harrison myself. Tomorrow will be the 21st anniversary. George Harrison died on November 29, 2001, in Los Angeles. He was only 58. And one song wrote by George was very special for David. 'Here Comes The Sun'. I've read once, that in the 80s, when DC was in the darkest, most unpappy and in debt, that song brought him hope and light.
