You Could Drive A Person Crazy / Stephen Sondheim

I've wanted to write about something else, only at the beginning of that entry mention Patrick Cassidy's birthday, but I've started reading about him, watching videos and..I've stayed with Cassidy Brothers.

Patrick Cassidy had birthday on January 4, he was born in 1962, just 3 months before me, and I love his last published photograph, so wonderful and moving. 

He looks fabulous, so handsome and so similar to his father, Jack. Patrick doesn't hide his age, doesn't dye his hair. It must have been difficult growing up in such a family, all of them working and successful actors, watching first David's, later Shaun's road to stardom. And he was just 11 when his parents divorced, and only 14 when his father died.

I don't know much about Patrick Cassidy's career, I've read he tried his own way, he played football at high school, but was injured. Like all of them he is an actor and a singer. 59 credits, more on TV, a lot of popular TV shows. Really impressive career in musical theatre, 5 shows on Broadway, that's more than David had, and Off-Broadway, and there are touring credits, the first one in 1977. He was just 15 when he started with the role of Rolf Gruber in The Sound of Music. And like David he also played Joseph...Really impressive.

In that popular talk show, aired on March 31, 1994 (30 years ago..) we can see Shirley, David, Shaun, Patrick and Ryan, and also a fragment of 'This Is Your Life' from 1971, when they also were together. And their father, Jack.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not writing today's blog just to gossip about DC's private life, it's because I always admired that amazing woman, Kay Ann Lenz. She had birthday yesterday. 3 years younger than David, a few years older than a typical DC's fan.  In the 70s I heard quite a lot about Kay Lenz . She was very popular in Poland, like the rest of the cast of 'Rich Man, Poor Man'. They Said I Changed A Lot..

Let's first listen to something which was not released, why they didn't want David singing that song is a great mystery for me. Listening to his young, sincere, innocent and magical voice is one in a kind moving experience. 'I Just Hated Being In The Show..'

Last week someone posted a screenshot of the article from May 1974, unfortunately without the date or the name of the paper. Written by a popular journalist Roderick Gilchrist, I think it was Daily Express. We can read that this interview took place at London Weekend Television's Building, on the day before the DC's last concert in Manchester.  And David said, "I feel like the door to the cage has just been opened. And, any minute now I'm going to be able to fly right away from my prison.
