Looking For David Cassidy. BBC Broadcasting House

I'm going to London soon, again. Not exactly looking for David Cassidy of course, but yes, walking in his footsteps, London is full of places connected with him, and I haven't completely forgotten about my old dream of writing a tour guide, 'David Cassidy in London'. Maybe one day.

This time I want to start with visiting BBC Broadcasting House situated at Portland Place in Merylebone (nearest tube station is Oxford Circus). I was outside this amazing building a few years ago, and it's time for the second visit to take some better photographs and to see at least a reception area.

The original  building (it was renovated in 2003) is a grade II listed building, the first broadcast from it was made in 1932. There is something magical about the main building made in Art Deco style, and when I saw it for the first time in 2019, it remainded me of the Tower of Babel, I mean how people imagined it. Really, Broadcasting House is something very special, even in London.

David Cassidy was interviewed there many times. For the first time (probably), on September 9, 1972 by David Hamilton, and David Hamilton later said that never were so many fans outside the Broadcasting House than when David Cassidy was in the studio that day...And we have the recording with this amazing interview, not very good quality I'm afraid, but it's so moving listening to it.

On the same day he was a guest on 'Junior Choice'. Again in 1973, and in 1974. We have this 1974 conversation with legendary Jack de Manio and Michael Wale, it's my number 1 DC radio interview from the 70s, also because of amazing quality of this recording.

It's like they were talking only a moment ago.

On June 23, 1975 David was interviewed by Tony Blackburn, but we dont have this audio.

Im sure the list of radio interviews from the 80s is not complete, only one BBC1 interview in 1985 and another one in 1986.  David returned to BBC Broadcasting House in 1995, and there are a lot of radio interviews from the 2000's and 2010's.

The last one we have on the website, is BBC Radio 2 Special, 'I Was a Teenage Heartthrob', aired on December 23, 2012. That interview with Nina Myskow was recorded in May 2012 and featured sound bites from the 70s.
