One Night Stand / Wes Farrell and Paul Anka

Or maybe Paul Anka with a little help of Wes Farrell. Anyway, yesterday it was 52 years since the premiere of the series' episode called 'Diary Of a Mad Millionaire', in which David Cassidy performed that song. Maybe not the best of The Partridge Family's episode, but very memorable because of the music numbers.

The first one is just a fragment, but how I love this charming song written by Terry Cashman and Tommy West. From Crossword Puzzle album.

It's worth to add that John Astin who played that title millionaire, will be 95 years old on March 30, and until  his retirement in 2021, he was director of the Theater Arts an Studies Department and Homewood Professor of the Arts at Johns Hopkins University (btw he graduated from it in 1952). What a man!

The second song was 'One Night Stand'. A wonderful song from the Partridge Family best album, 'Sound Magazine', released in August 1971.

It took a while for the song to appear on the series. There were songs on 'Sound Magazine' not exactly for kids. And 'One Night Stand' was rather adult oriented. The lyrics..like written for David, so easily bored with new girlfrends, so busy working non stop, but also dreaming about one, true love. Amazing tempo of the song, but first of all very moving Davd Cassidy's interpretation. Maybe the producers were waiting with 'One Night Stand', but how wonderfully this music scene was thought of and directed, those fragments where David's face is in partial shade..Magic.

'One Night Stand' was never released as a single, but it looks that David Cassidy liked it himself, and when he started touring again he performed the song in 1991. What an amazing, rock version it was..I've chosen this video, maybe not the best, rather raw, but we can hear how the audience was excited, and how happy David was performing it (and later 'I Woke Up In Love This Morning'). How I wish I were in audience..
