"The Birthday Of The Week. David Cassidy"
Someone has written this on social media (I got it on Google Alerts). Nothing more, no pic, no comment, and I have no idea if this person is a fan. Just those words, "The Birthday Of The Week. David Cassidy". And for me it was like the sound of an alarm clock. We've been waiting for this day for such a long time, and suddenly it is now, this week. David Cassidy's 75th birthday.
Let's watch one more time this video, Barney Robertson's song, 'You Were The First One', recorded by David Cassidy for his unreleased album, in 1979. And yes, I know he wasn't happy when those songs appeared in 1991, by Curb Records in Japan, but I love all of them.
'You Were The First One' is one of my top DC's 'beach songs', one of those to listen to on the beach, in the evening, looking at the sea and sunset and listen to David Cassidy's magical voice. How he sings this song, so dreamy, it's so captivatng. We read and heard so many times David telling that he wanted to play rock music, and of course he could sing anything, but he was the best with love ballads. He was so romantic himself.

David Cassidy's fans..Once teens, now some of us has teenage grandkids, but when we listen to his music we feel young again. My son-in-law was in the US last November, and while he was in Washington, D.C. he visted a public library, and for whatever reason asked a middle-aged librarian if she had anything about David Cassidy. She was so astonished (I can imagine, my son-in-law is 35 years old !), but when he repeated the question it was his turn to be astonished even more. She said 'David Cassidy..sadly no..', but her eyes lit up and suddenly she looked 10 years younger, and my son-in-law had to tell her a little bit about me, my blog and that people all around the world still remember David.

David's birthday..Some fans will meet in London, visiting places connected with David. The Phoenix Theatre and The Phoenix Garden, St. Giles Church. There will be flowers and David's photographs in the church. A memorial book. British fans keep this flame burning in the name of those who can't do it themselves. Since November 2017 some fans, and not only from the UK, meet in London at least twice, on April 12 and November 21.
And the rest of us, those who can't come for many reasons. We'll be together in spirit, thinking about DC and listening to his music. Feeling sad but also so grateful for all those years.
