Uncle Daddy. And The Last Gift.

I haven't written for quite a lot of time (at least for me it was a long break). It's not that I didn't have anything to write about, but at first I was very busy, later there was Sam Hyman's birthday and I was watching all those incredible videos, and later..I don't know. It's scary how fast one can get used to e.g. not writing. Anyway I'm back.

We've just had (2 days ago), the anniversary of the release of the last David Cassidy's album.

The EP called 'Songs My Father Taught Me' has just 5 tracks. 'Night and Day', 'Summertime'. 'Wish You Were Here', 'Sweet Little Angel' and Craig J. Snider's composition, 'Till We Meet Again'. Craig said, "We captured that little bit of flame before it was out". The EP became number 1, the top selling jazz release on Amazon.  7 years ago I wrote down for myself a sentence from an Amazon review, "This is his last gift to the fans who stayed with him over the years, and for people who should listen and hear David's heart, despite his falling voice and declining health."

This is such an extraordinary recording, yes we can hear David's heart, he was so wonderful and unique artist to the end. We can also hear (and we can watch on 'The Last Session') how David's musicians, people who played with him on stage and in the studio, how they loved him. And how good they were. Frank Fabio. Teri Coté. Dave Robicheau. And Craig J. Snider. Thank you.

A big thank you also to Denise Ames, beautiful, amazing woman, so full of positive energy, nothing is impossible for her. For the second time she organized the celebration of Sam Hyman's birthday. Thanks to Denise and fans who came (also from Australia and the UK), we could all indirectly took part in this one in a kind, extraordinary event. Denise Ames made Sam Hyman our friend. What a kind, generous, witty, loyal man. What a great sense of humor. And how he misses David, just like we do. That was the most touching.

And David's jacket, what a quality, it looks brand new, so beautiful.. I was very envious watching fans who could touch or even try on this iconic jacket, so dear for all of us. It must have been amazing experience, difficult to imagine really. It was certainly worth all the money and the effort of the journey to California.

We also heard some stories, some of them very moving, some very funny. Like this one about David's shirt he wore under the famous jacket. What it meant 'Uncle Daddy'. And actually that was how Sam and one of DC's young housekeepers called him. Because it was David's house, he earned money for all that, so he made the rules. As Sam said, 'We didn't want to get grounded'. I've thought that the rules were very needed ; he was working so hard, he needed a space for some rest, a place where he had control and could be alone when he wanted..
