'Cause He's The One That Makes Us Feel This Way..

Yes, John Sebastian's song, 'Daydream', covered so wonderfully by David for his third solo album in 1973, was of course about a girl, but millions of people, not only girls, all around the world, dreamed of him, and we all agree that he still makes us feel this way..

It's just amazing, David's interpretation. This lucky girl he was thinking about while recording the song, and it also reminds me of the time, many years ago, when I used to dream about someone special. For our generation David's was the voice of our teen years and emotions. And he knew about it.

David Cassidy, "I came to understand, too, that even the lightweight pop songs recorded could have an enormous value to my fans. (..) I know that millions of teens, whose sexuality was just awakenng, found those songs really articulated their feelings. I gave voice to emotions associated with adolescent relationships." (David Cassidy, Could It Be Forever?, 2007. p.216)

My FB friend, Clea, has written about David today, "he was a dream and always will be", and she's mentioned that she'd met David in person in 1975, and her story was published in The David Cassidy Official Magazine in the 70s,  and in Louise Poynton's book, 'Cherish  David Cassidy A Legacy Of Love'. Yes, I've read about Clea's story once (she won 'Meet David Cassidy In California Competition', and what the time she had meeting David and even seeng him working in the recording studio. But I wanted to refresh my memory and took the book off the shelf. and for the next 2 hours I was not available for anyone.

First the pics. The sheer number of them and the quality. Amazing or even more. Unique photos from private collections specially made available for this one in a kind, wonderful, priceless book. Sure, I read the book a few years ago when it was published, but since then it stood in a place of honor on the shelf, and David was smiling at me everyday from its cover.

Today I first looked at all the photos again..this book is such a treasure, and later started reading memories. 5 years ago, yes, the book was published in 2020 and I got it as a Christmas present in December the same year. At the time most of the people whose memories were included in the book were unknown to me. Now I've met some of them in person, and many are my FB friends. That was amazing to read their memories again.

I hope to meet many others in West Orange, in July, I'm counting the days, not many left. And maybe it's worth remembering that last year, Louise Poynton's book was added to the West Orange Public Library Collection. It happened at the dedication ceremony to mark the opening of the new library. Joseph Fagan who is West Orange Town hstorian presented a specially signed copy.

In this video you can see the new library and West Orange Mayor, Susan McCartney.

For me the library is another place to visit while in West Orange.

Louise Poynton wrote about David in the introduction, 'He took us to magical place and belonged to us' (page 6). So true.

Thank you Clea for an inspiration.
