'Tell me you love me, make me real'

From the song we all love, written for David Cassidy by Tony Romeo. 54 years ago. David Cassidy, "I called Tony Romeo when I was looking for songs and he wrote 'I Am a Clown'. Tony knew me well and saw what I was going through and put it into music. It describes the circus that my life had become, with me as the clown" (David Cassidy : Could It Be Forever?, 2007, p.217)

A masterclass in seducing an audience. He was so aware of every gesture, it's just amazing.

I've thought about that paricular fragment of 'I Am a Clown''s lyrics while searching for the best title for an entry about the upcoming The David Cassidy Event in West Orange. Next Friday I'll be on a plane to New York City. We are going there not sparing time, health or money, to tell the whole world that we still love him and the passing years change nothing.

The fact that a historical marker for David Cassidy will be placed in Colgate Field, West Orange, is a great achievement of all the people who worked so hard to make it happen. I'm sure all fans and guests present at the ceremonies will be at their best. For David. We all want this event to be spectacular and memorable and has as much publicity as possible.

I must confess that at first it was a little bit difficult to get used to those words, 'a hstorical marker for David Cassidy', another proof that his time, his life and his music belong to the past. It's history now. But of course we all are so happy that David Cassidy will be honored in the place where everything started, and that the entire West Orange community is also prepearing.

I have no idea how Barb, Karen and other girls have made it, how they convinced David's children, Katie and Beau to celebrate the historical marker for their father together with the fans. Someone asked if they will be present at the gala signing autographs and taking pictures with fans. I hope not. Or at least not the whole time. I hope they will share with us some memories of his father. This is the first time the members of DC's family appreciate the efforts of fans to commemorate his legacy. We cannot waste this.
