West Orange Stories

First the song we associate most with West Orange and David too. Written by friends, Kim Carnes, Dave Ellingson and David Cassidy.

DC wrote about it in his book, "Kim, Dave and I wrote a couple of songs together. (..) At the time I wrote it, I was remembering when I was 18. It was 1968. I had just moved back to New York from L.A. I was on a bus from Port Authority to West Orange, New Jersey. I remember leaning against the window and looking out and remembering how many times my mom had driven me the same way. I hadn't lived there since I was 11. I saw a couple of guys I'd known who were now married." (David Cassidy, 'Could It Be Forever?, 2007, p.273)

And now we are going there. To West Orange.

There is a page on my blog called, 'Las Vegas Stories', with entries written by fans who were in Las Vegas in April 2022. Fans from the the US, the Netherlands, Canada and England. Wonderful stories with great pics, many people have read them at the time, and this page is still popular. And I hope I'll get new stories, this time about the upcoming event in West Orange. David Cassidy West Orange Historical Marker. The schedule is so exciting, and it looks a lot of fans will take part in this amazing celebration of David Cassidy. Some fans met before, in Las Vegas, California, or in London. These friendships are David's legacy.

We have wonderful and emotional days ahead of us. Remembering David Cassidy in West Orange, and in New York. I start my adventure in Manhattan, and from the start it'll be very emotional. At last I'm going to meet in person my very good FB friend and fellow fan, Mary,  and we will be walking together in David's footsteps.

When in April we learnt that a musical based on the life of Bobby Darin premiered at Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre, we didn't hesitate and bought the tickets. It was like a sign from David himself, just for us. Bobby Darin, the only artist David and his father could agree on. DC sang a fragment of 'Mack the Knife' already in 1971, on Glenn Campbell Hour. He appeared as Bobby Darin in 'The Rat Pack Is Back!' I just can't describe my excitement and my emotion. I'm sure DC would have been sensational as Bobby Darin...

We are waiting for a musical about David..
