Let's Do It Now!

Yes, after years of waiting and dreaming about it, and running the petition, now the time has come and this project  got  a green light to go ahead. A Stone for David Cassidy on Camden, London Music Walk of Fame.

Let's start with a song about being on fire because it's how I feel now.

'It's so easy to get lazy..so get up and move and get hot!'. Those David's own words, and the song has been playing in my head since the Camden Music Walk of Fame's organizers published fundrising link for David Cassidy Birthday Stone Unveilng & Ceremony.

There is no doubt that David Cassidy should be remembered and honoured in London. He was a superstar there, on a scale difficult to imagine. He played there 23 sold out concerts, the first one in March 1973, the last in November 2012.  He was working there, performing on West End in the 80s and 90s. He recorded music in London. He guest starred on many TV and radio programmes, he was interviewed by the famous British journalists. He was friends  (and worked with) with many people who shaped the British music scene in the 70s and 80s.

While being in London in November, I saw this season must-see exhibition at The Design Museum, 'Blitz: The Club That Shaped the 80s'. We can read on the museum's website, 'A major exhibiton on the legendary Blitz night club that transformed London style, and generated a creative scene that had an enormous  impact on popular culture in the decade  that followed'.

Of course David Bowie was also remembered there as an inspiration for the 80s music and fashion, and the video  was shown with him and Mick Ronson performing 'Starman' on Pop of the Pops in 1973. Yes, it made me think about David and his impact on this generation, so many of them were David's fans in the early 70s. Boy George wrote in November 2017 that David's voice was like silk, and every boy wanted to look like him..

David Cassidy truly loved his British fans, and London was a special place on Earth for him. The list of the places in London connected with David Cassidy is very long, and we really need a book, a tour guide, whatever we call it, about David in London, And we need that STONE!

Yesterday I talked with some friends who wanted to know what I think about Camden Music Walk of Fame, and if donating money for that project was risky. I answered citing David himself. He said in 1985 that, 'There's no place like London' and 'I've always been rewarded by risk-taking, both in relationships and my career. Without risk there are no rewards.' It was about his upcoming the UK tour in 1985. And he added, 'I hope this time the audiences will come and listen - to me.'

So let's do it now! For David Cassidy, and for us, his fans.
