It Should Have Been Me / William Stevenson and Norman Whitfield
One more great cover from 1979. The song was written in 1963, recorded by various artists, but never really a big hit. David's version is soulful, full of passion, his voice rich and seductive.. I think he had a lot of fun recording it, it's also a great dance number.
Of course each and all of us had at last once the same dream, the same wish. It should have been me..Me and David. And now some fans can fulfill that dream thanks to AI. I'm strongly against it, even that I know that nothing can stop fans from making those short scenes (I don't know how to call them). At first it looked innocent, a fake David (his animated photo) smiling at the image of younger version of the author of such fantasy, later we got a fake David hugging a fan, now serious kissing started. I can't see anything funny in it, in my opinion it's a serious obsession, and it's very sad because David Cassidy, his image, was so exploited, and now own David's fans..

I keep reading updates. In Fan magazine from December 1974 there is a great pic from Australia with smiling DC on a boat, and another one taken while he was cutting his hair later the same year. David Cassidy told a lot about his plans for 1975. That article is called 'New Year David'. He had great plans for 1975. A movie. An own TV show. And an album with songs all written by him.
I love what he said, "To me, that's what this thing is all about, getting better all the time at the things you know about and going on to try your hand at things you aren't sure you can do." It was about his attitude towards work, but I think it was also his attitude towards life.

And one more article. I'm so glad we have it on the website now, because we should have everything, also items written by people who weren't in love with David Cassidy (if I can put it this way). The author, Janet Maslin is a known journalist, music and film critic.
I agree with her opinion about The Higher They Climb The Harder They Fall "What comes through most clearly is the confusion of someone who's trying to play it both ways". I know and understand what he felt after those 5 insane years, but many people couldn't understand why he complained so much. It didn't help him to be taken seriously, and instead writing about his new music more was written about his diffcult teen idol years. Interesting article.
