A Touch Of Blue

Not the best title for today's blog, but, 1. I binge listening to this album this week 2. I feel little blue myself. I should have started my holiday in the UK today, I was looking forward to it, preparing for some time, we had so many plans...  but I had to cancel everything last week. I'm not even sad, but yes, 'A Touch of Blue', it's a perfect description of my mood today

And to think that once I didn't appreciate David's version of this Paul McCartney's masterpiece. Amazing cover. Such a known song, nevertheless he was able to add something own, something personal,  It's made me cry a little bit today. Don't worry I'll be fine.

I want to write a little bit about something of course not very important, but somehow I keep thinking about it, And even more after watching the trailer of the film called 'Dove', from 1974. Produced by Gregory Peck. The real life story of Robin Lee Graham who spend five years sailing all around the world, started when he was 16 years old. The actors considered for the role included  David Cassidy, Richard Thomas and Edward Albert Jr. At the end Joseph Bottoms got the role. He got Golden Globe Award for New Star of The Year 1975 for his role.

Of course we  don't know if DC even knew about it or if there had been any serious talks. The schooting started in May 1973 and at the time he still had to make  the last Partridge Family's  Season 4,  record one more album ('Bulletin Board') and of course his own solo project, 'Dreams Are Nuthin' More Than Wishes'. He was very busy. The film 'Dove' premiered in 1974, and it was a flop, especially in the US.

David Cassidy got a lot of scripts when he was a teen idol. He had reasons to believe that offers would continue to appear, and one day he would act in a film that would become a breakthrough for him and that he would be appreciated as an actor. Not just  a singer for little girls. A teen idol.

  I learnt yesterday that Robyn Millan died last year. Someone published a post about the TPF's episode where she'd appeared as a guest star, 'Dora, Dora, Dora', Season 2 episode 1, aired 50 years ago, on September 17, 1971. And there was a comment about that episode that the script was poorly written, sexist etc. Maybe, no one would dare write something like that now, but the world looked different half a century ago.   I was truly sorry and sad yesterday because of Robyn. Two Weddings In Las Vegas

First 'Four Weddings and a Funeral'. The film premiered in the UK 30 years ago, on May 13, 1994.  A low budget film, made in 6 weeks, became unexpected success, all over the world, earned just mountains of money, and made of  Hugh Grant international star. It's also a film with a very strong David Cassidy's connection.  The script was written by Richard Curtis (born in 1956), whose partner (they married after many years in 2023), a popular broadcaster Emma Freud, was (and still is) a DC fan.
