One Night Stand /Wes Farrell and Paul Anka

or seeing David Cassidy in concert. Fascinaitng topic of conversation, and a few days ago Penelope Roda left a comment under my post on DC's appearance at the famous Pine Knob Music Theatre in Detroit. Many famous musicians performed there and David was the first, on June 25, 1972. Tickets were only availabe by mail. It looks so complicated now,  getting a ticket was available by only mail check or money order with a stamped self-addressed envelope to a temporary ticket office.

We are so lucky to have a short video of this iconic concert,  David's performance there is still remembered,

So Penelope wrote, "It's amazing how easy it was to get access to David concerts then and I guess when he was in older years as well". She also asked how long did the concert usually last.

During his long career David Cassidy played over 600 concerts. He played stadiums, the most famous concert venues in the US or UK, but also at many unprepeared random places. Especially in the 70s when his promoters wanted to earn as much as possible, to make the most of his time at the top. He played sellout concerts (e,g, MSG in New York), but sometimes tickets were half sold or even some concerts were cancelled because of poor sellout (e.g.at Hollywood Bowl in August 1972)

Was it easy to see DC in concert ? Got tickets. I think it depends on the decade and the country. In the 70s most fans were simply too young to go on their own for such a gig, even if the concert was played in a given area. They were usually brought by their parents, or one parent would bring a few friends eager to see David. Concerts were announced in the press, competitions were organized and the prize  was a meeting with David, and sometimes he found out about it at the last minute. In 1971 David played 35 concerts, 62 in 1972, everywhere in the US.

David Cassidy's concerts in the UK in 1973 and 1974, are legendary. They aroused extraordinary interest, not everyone could see him on stage. He played only in Manchester, Glasgow and first of all in London, and for many fans in the UK, living far from these cities, going for his concert was out of the question. They were too young to go on their own, for many it was also too expensive, Many of these fans took the chance to finally see him live in 1985. This time he played 22 concerts, a real tour, in England, Scotland  and Wales,

David Cassidy was a great live performer, he loved making his fans happy, it was not just a job. It's a very broad topic and there's no room on the blog to cover it thoroughly.
