Completely by chance, yesterday night I watched a documentary from 2012, called 'Freddie Mercury : The Great Pretender'. It was on our TV. And actually very interesting, because a lot was said about Freedie Mercury's attempt to forge a solo career. There were interviews with Montserrat Caballe (1933 - 2018), some unknown for me footage, and never heard demos with Rod Stewart and Michael Jackson. 

We all know how great performer Freddie was, I always get chills watching Queen at Live Aid in 1985, but he was also a great musician. Anyway at one moment a video of Freddy in the familiar decorations appeared. Freddie on stage at the Dominion Theatre, in Time. At the first moment I thought it was David Cassidy, it was so unexpected, and I know DC's pics and 'Time' footage with him so well.. Of course Freddie Mercury didn't perform in 'Time'. He recorded 2 songs for 'Time' concept album, and the video for the title song was made on the stage at the theatre.

'In My Defence' by Freddie Mercury was released as his single, posthumously, in 1992, reaching no 8 in the UK. What's more, his last ever live performance was at that theatre, on April 14th, 1988. He performed 4 songs from the musical, one in duet with Cliff Richard.

And David Cassidy in 'Time' ? It was a great performance, he got very good reviews, gave a lot of interviews in the press, radio and TV, and first of all fans were sooo happy for the opportunity to see him on stage again. They came from all the UK and from Europe. 

'Express And Star, April 1987, "Former teen idol, David Cassidy was showered with red roses at the end of his West End stage debut in the rock musical 'Time'. Cassidy was wolf-whistled and cheered at the end of the 3 hour production."

'Time' wasn't a great musical, rather naive, but had amazing special effects, and David could sing beautifully and had a lot of charisma, it was his great success.

So let's listen to David Cassidy's 'In My Defence', listen, not only watch and admire his gorgeous face. Live performance at London's Palladium, it's a brilliant interpretation, mature and moving, a great actor and performer singing..

  I learnt yesterday that Robyn Millan died last year. Someone published a post about the TPF's episode where she'd appeared as a guest star, 'Dora, Dora, Dora', Season 2 episode 1, aired 50 years ago, on September 17, 1971.
