'Don't Be Sad For Me..'

Image
'Don't ask why or how..' from 'Tonight', a song from EFX. I just love listening to it with my headphones on. David's voice, so wonderful, so deep and emotional. How he did it, that each song he performed seems to be about him, so personal, or even more, about him and a listener. I don't know who wrote 'Tonight' and who was singing with David. Somehow it's not mportant. He could make every song his own, only the greatest artist can do this. He was also a perfectionist, how it's all refined, thought out, every phrase, note, word. He seems to sing so effortlessly, of course he was very talented, but there was also a lot of hard work. Jack taught him, work ethic. Practising for hours if necessary, until everything was at the highest possible level.  https://www.davidcassidy.com/fansite/TheatrePages/EFXTonight.mp3 Of course David Cassidy wasn't the only one who combined a career as an actor, singer or even a teen idol, with successes in musica...

Yankee Doodle Dandy / George M. Cohan

It was difficult to find a title, because at first I wanted to write only about this magical book, 'James Cagney Was My Babysitter', but just a few days ago we got new (I mean old but it was brand new for us, David's fans) video from 1981 when David was a star of 'Little Johnny Jones'. Wonderful video, posted by the original broadcaster (CBS8 News in San Diego) on its own You Tube channel. Amazing quality, there is an interview and first of all some fragments from the show. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iPal9HvGq8 What a voice! And it was live! You hear clearly every single sound, he was 100% pro. And what's more it was the opening night for 'Little Johnny Jones' at Fox Theater in San Diego. The first David's performance at the musical theatre after 12 years! Someone wrote in comments that he didn't smile while dancing. Of course he didn't, he was in pain. 'Little Johnny Jones' was written by George M. Cohan in 1904, the musical wa...

Let's Do It Now!

Yes, after years of waiting and dreaming about it, and running the petition, now the time has come and this project  got  a green light to go ahead. A Stone for David Cassidy on Camden, London Music Walk of Fame.  Let's start with a song about being on fire because it's how I feel now.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O78YHPADwNo 'It's so easy to get lazy..so get up and move and get hot!'. Those David's own words, and the song has been playing in my head since the Camden Music Walk of Fame's organizers published fundrising link for David Cassidy Birthday Stone Unveilng & Ceremony. There is no doubt that David Cassidy should be remembered and honoured in London. He was a superstar there, on a scale difficult to imagine. He played there 23 sold out concerts, the first one in March 1973, the last in November 2012.  He was working there, performing on West End in the 80s and 90s. He recorded music in London. He guest starred on many TV and radio programmes, ...

The Things We Do For Love

Image
Yes, it's the title of the old 10cc hit (Eric Stewart, Graham Gouldman), btw I'm a huge fan of Eric so I know the song is about hard times he had while dating a girl from Yorkshire, her dad was rather sceptical about that young popular guitarist and singer so much in love, but he shouldn't. Eric married his Angela in 1965, and they are still together. Btw 'I'm Not In Love' was also written for her. But this is a blog about David Cassidy, so let's start with David's song, and he, like no other, could sing about love, its joy and pain. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sgero04Twc The things we do for love. We talked quite a lot about it while in London last month. After all we -  me, Maya and Linda, met for the second time this year. And for Maya it was the third journey she did for David Cassidy in 2025. Like other fans we have spent a lot of money and a lot of time travelling just because of him. To walk in his steps, to celebrate his life and legacy and ...
