Could It Be Forever / Wes Farrell, Danny Janssen

Image
This song should have been known by everyone and everywhere. From the start, from the very first notes, so distinctive.. In March 1973 when David performed 'Could It Be Forever' on Estelar Del Sabado, in Spain, he was careless with the lyrics and deliberately left out famous 'but', at the time he was fighting for his artistic independence, and was not on speaking terms with Wes Farrell. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ha4Ttn2RjzY&list=RDHa4Ttn2RjzY&start_radio=1 It's Wes Farrell's and David Cassidy's masterpiece. The great pop timeless classic. Wes Donald Farrell died 30 years ago, in February 1996,  he was only 56 years old. So important figure in music industry for about 10 years, in the 60s and 70s. He co-wrote 'Hang On Sloopy', recorded in 1965, from the start a favourite song for countless of garage bands, and sure young David Cassidy, a drummer in his high school band, played this great hit many times. He also co-wrote 'Boys' re...

"Cassidy - Now A Phenomenal Attraction'

Image
I have read a lot of articles about DC, published in the UK in the early 70s, have own collection of them myself, but when I've seen this, I thought wow!  New Musical Express. October 28, 1972. The front page, David's pic and in extra big, bold letters, 'CASSIDY TOUR' Wow (again) https://www.davidcassidy.com/fansite/InPrintPages/Mag1972Oct28_NewMusicalExpress.pdf We can read (also on the front page but in small print) that more details are on page 3 and that David was "a phenomenal attraction for thousands of fans" and that "Cassidy's 'Cherish' album and his 'How Can I Be Sure' single are both No 1 in this week's NME chart". (what a shame there are no charts). This is just amazing.  Let's watch a video. David Cassidy singing 'How Can I Be Sure' in London, in 1985. I have goosebumps anytime I listen to the beginning of his performance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_g3AxbW9-o&list=RDa_g3AxbW9-o&start_radi...

Up To Date

The second Partridge Family's album was released on February 12, 55 years ago. In 1971. On Bell. There is an article on the website, called 'David Cassidy Young Self-Made Superstar', published in January 1971. The author described David, "A quiet, rather shy lad. But behind those calm grey eyes (..) there's a deceptive intelligence, an awareness. The knowledge of showbusiness flows in his blood.". David said, "The music we do, is bubblegum to the trade. I think it's a little bit better than most bubblegum. Sophisticated bubblegum. What is not is George Harrison. That's what I want be doing." At the time George Harrison's first solo album was a great hit. David Cassidy was young and he wanted to become an independent. recording artist. After  55 years the music he called bubblegum became pop classic, even the song he really hated. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-J8ypGTWxg DC was 100% pro, always, deadly serious about his work, the qual...

We'll Always Have London

Image
Of course it was, 'We'll always have Paris', Humphrey Bogart to Ingrid Bergman in David Cassidy's favourite film, 'Casablanca'. So let's start with unforgettable David's performance on 'The Partridge Family/My Three Sons Reunion, in November 1977. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhIl93zAuJU&list=RDxhIl93zAuJU&start_radio=1 I think I watched this video 200 times at least, and each time is like the first time. Total admiration for his voice and his beauty.  'We'll always have London', David Cassidy and his fans. Each time in London, walking in David's footsteps, we feel his presence. It's difficult not to feel, because truly spreaking everywhere we go in London, there is a place connected with him. Places where he worked - the theaters he performed, recording studios he recorded his music, concert halls he played concerts, tv and radio studios where he was invited as a star, always a star, in every decade of his career. Hote...
