Going To England. May 2022

Image
I'm going to England soon. In May. Thanks to David Cassidy. A dream coming true.. I was born in a communist country. Behind The Iron Curtain. We didn't have ..many, many things, but for me the most painful was the lack of  anything English, books, records, newspapers, or just pics or news. I didn't know English, we had a little bit of it at high school, but it was very basic, we were taught from very old and uninteresting textbooks. England might as well be on the Moon for me. Of course we couldn't travel abroad.  But miracles happen, and in 1989 with the collapsing of the Soviet Union, Poland became an independent country. I was 27 years old, I had a husband, a daughter, a dog..and nothing more really. We lived in a very small rented flat and were very poor. Many years passed and at last I went to London for the very first time. Of course everything was very expensive for me, I stayed somewhere in Acton, shared bathroom with many other people, and I was walking through...

My Literal Whirlwind Trip For David. On July 7, 2021 I received a letter in the mail from The Las Vegas Walk Of Fame inviting me to Las Vegas to celebrate David Cassidy's Star ceremony. I was taken by surprise thinking, "Who would remember I was ever friends with David?" Apparently, a lot of people. So, for a whole year I planned the trip 1 year out. Why? I do suffer from COPD and PTSD, you know, all the fashionable abbreviations. Since COVID I have been secluded for 3 years. No contact with anyone. Mentally that's a lot safer with PTSD. So, after 10,000 changes in what I had to say, I finally had my story on David. Nothing to personal yet not so much about me, but I find it difficult not to talk about David without talking about me. Maybe a little A.D.D. too? So, my first venture into the real world since I was invited by Josh Robert Thompson who did Geoff The Gay Robot on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson in 2014 for a 5 day stay in Los Angeles. Again, I regr...

The Partridge Family. Whatever Happened To Moby Dick?

Image
Just a short entry today..A little whining ... 'Whatever Happened To Moby Dick?'. That episode was first aired in October 1971. An eco friendly episode,  there are some wonderful off the set David's pics with orcas, it must have been such  fun for him.  An episode with Shirley as a lead vocalist. I've been taking screenshots of it today for the DC Official Website (April Dent's written the synopsis) and thinking about..time.  Taking those screen shots..it's such a bitter-sweet experience, admiring young David's beauty, he looks so timeless, so cool (at least in my eyes, 'looking through the eyes of love..'), but of course it was so many, many years ago. There is one pic, a group scene with 8 persons and 4 of them are dead now, Bert Convy, Dave Madden, Suzanne and David. Strange.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C14dcjtL0Oc And that project. TPF Episode Synopsis. We started it in July last year. We were sure a lot of fans would be happy to have an opp...

Summer 2021. In the midst of the global pandemic, my friend Linda asks me if I would like to travel with her to Las Vegas in 2022. To reveal a star like in Hollywood there on the strip of David Cassidy. She explains it all in an email and refers me to the site LVWOS and says join and see what you think of this idea.. It's really out of the blue. My retrospective farewell to David was in 2004, unconsciously, when his last handshake in the Wolf den Connecticut is etched in my memory. I was with the gang at the time, so I called the group of girls worldwide with whom I often arranged to travel to David and stay. I discuss the proposal with my husband and he says 'do it' with a big smile!! and at the same time 'I see that you have already decided'… This is your goodbye to David!! Plans are made, but brief. First we order tickets for the Donny O performance, these will be for sale on Ticketmaster in October 2021. He plays in Harrahs {we can still sell them}..anything wit...

My First Night Alone Without You / Kim Vassy

Don't be afraid, this is not the end of The Las Vegas Stories, I hope to publish more, just waiting for some. And  meanwhile an entry (for the second time) about that amazing and powerful song, the song most of us love so much. And for some personal reasons I've been listening to it a few times recently. Maybe Bonnie Ratt's version. It was a hit in 1975. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iu7dmCRmn6g Beautiful..but it lacks something. As if she had already come to terms with her fate. What can be done, she is  sad but somehow it will be.. 'My First Night Alone Without You' was written and recorded as a promo by Kin (Kim) Vassy ( Charles Kindred Vassy, 1943-1994) a singer who worked with Elvis and Frank Zappa, and also a successful songwriter. And in 1972 a lot of really known artists recorded that song. Apart from David also Ray Charles, Dionne Warwick and Bobby Darin. Let's check Ray Charles' version. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kxTy0egFTo No, not for me,...

The Las Vegas Stories. Barb Collentine

Another great story..Barb, thanks to you I feel like I was there too..in that moment in time Las Vegas— Our Moment.               We came from all over the world.  We came from Netherlands, Denmark, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, South America, America. We came on planes, buses and cars; we took Ubers and shuttles. We brought suitcases, we brought make up bags. We brought cameras and iPhones and iPads. We brought it all and we had been waiting to come for two years.  We came to Vegas.  We came for David.   What else can I add about the Las Vegas Star event where we came from every corner of the globe for the man who throughout all our lives remained tucked into every corner of our hearts? How do I explain the feelings? We were speechless, we were tear-filled, we were silly, we were joyful. We were instant friends who’d never known each other but who for 51 years continued to tend the same emotion in each of our hearts:...

Another great story today,  my special FB friend from Canada, Laurie. But first a few words from me. I've been asked why I publish those stories..Strange question really, so far only 3, and I'd love to have many more. Because those fans experienced something special, they were in Las Vegas in our name, the rest of the DC fans who couldn't make it. It was the first (and I hope not the last) that kind of gathering. Of course fans met in London in 2018 (The Phoenix Theatre Plaque), but they met just for that event, and they were only from the UK.  We should cherish those memories, and each one is different, like each review from any DC's concert are not the same. There is always that personal touch. And we should be grateful that fans share with us their memories..we are in difficult situation. Sometimes I looked at the other fan pages..Osmonds'..even The Monkees'..they still have sth to wait for..We will not have new songs, interviews or concerts.  Now  let's ...
