Produced by E.T. Thorngren

Image
E.T. Thorngren was a legend for many. Always. Already in the 70s, and even in Poland, because he was Talking Heads' producer. Everything about him was extraordinary, also his name, his hats.. He was always a mysterious figure, we still don't know the cause of his death on May 6. He was very independent and very good at his job. His job was his passion. Eric Thorngren was born in New York, around the same time as David, he started his music career in the late 60s, but very quickly decided that he wanted to be on the other side in the studio, he became an engineer, producer and mixer. He produced punk classics albums and very early hip hop. He produced 'Sid and Nancy' original soundtrack. And Eurythmics, Public Image Ltd, Debbie Harry, Cyndi Lauper, Lou Gramm, Wet Wet Wet, Robert Palmer and David Cassidy.  He worked with David twice. The first time he co-produced (with another legend, Phil Ramone), David's self-titled album, released in October 1990. https://www.youtu...

I'll Meet You Halfway. A Tribute To David Cassidy.

Image
In the first months after David died, The David Cassidy Official Website became a natural place for fans from all over the world  to be together and mourn David.  We were also waiting for tributes to DC, tributes organized by family and David's famous friends. We were discussing what it could be, a concert maybe, or even better an album with covers of David's songs.  I loved the idea of the album, all of them could sing. Katie recorded ITILY when she was a teen, David recorded duets with Sue and didn't care that she was a better sonwriter than a singer.  And there were also David's brothers and Shirley, a lot of talented nephews, and so many friends. Kim and Dave started their career working for David. Alice, Elton, Gerry, Dewey, Richie, Timothy and many more.. Shaun remembers David and sings I'll Meet You Halfway as a tribute to him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8kVBQaUMLk Fans have learnt very quickly that if we want something for David, a memorial plaque, a b...

Two Weddings In Las Vegas

Image
First 'Four Weddings and a Funeral'. The film premiered in the UK 30 years ago, on May 13, 1994.  A low budget film, made in 6 weeks, became unexpected success, all over the world, earned just mountains of money, and made of  Hugh Grant international star. It's also a film with a very strong David Cassidy's connection.  The script was written by Richard Curtis (born in 1956), whose partner (they married after many years in 2023), a popular broadcaster Emma Freud, was (and still is) a DC fan. She gave some interviews about her love for DC and meeting him in person. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ogl0mA_15ys 163 000 views, this one scene. Someone wrote 6 years ago, 'RIP David Cassidy. We know we loved you'. We still do. Two weddings in Las Vegas. Beau Cassidy and his fiance, Stephanie, just got married there. Something different was planned, in Europe, in September. And according to Sue Shifrin, Las Vegas was the last minute decision and that's the reason Dav...

Sing Me..

Image
or with David Cassidy in Iceland. I've spent the last 2 weeks there.  At first glance no connection with DC, but who knows. Actually between 1941 and 2006 there were American bases on the island, and American music, American pop culture have left their mark, but I have no idea if DC was popular in Iceland in the 70s.  Anyway, like always I've listen to David's music every day, even if only for a couple of minutes before going to sleep.. Sing me..Tony Romeo wrote this song for David in 1973, but after so many years those words have special meaning for us, 'Sing me one of the songs and you've got me..Play me one of the songs and you take me..and life was a joy..' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dktg7IeY_YY Wonderful video and only 424 views after four years. How it's possible. Of course my sister, whom I've been visiting in Iceland, knows quite a lot about David, she even once has watched The Last Session with me, and a few The Partridge Family's episo...

Summer Days / Tony Romeo

Or 96 The Partridge Family episodes' synopses on The David Cassidy Official Website. All episodes' summaries. Every single one now has a synopsis, screenshots, info including cast, and the first airing date. I wish we had filming dates too. I'm sooo happy that after more than 2 years this project is completed now.  The first synopsis was written by Jane herself, (someone had to start it) and she chose S1 E2, because the song from it was one of her favourites. https://youtu.be/Ub5S8g8Hk1U?si=9YpsczvkpuE2KKar It was a brilliant Jane's idea, not just writing those synopses, but first of all giving David's fans an opportunity to contribute to the Website, do something for David Cassidy and his legacy. We were sure everything would be done very quickly. And at first it looked like that because many people volunteered.. Whatever it was it's done now, and I'm so glad. There are TPF episodes' summaries on other sites, but not all of them, and not so good.  In th...

"Not A Great Deal Has Been Heard Of David Since.."

Image
I'm still reading the articles posted on the website on April 12. The first one from the 80s, is actually an article about Shaun and his life after teen idol fame. Shaun Cassidy, at the time in his early 20s, was already a married man with a step daughter. He was working hard for another career.  David was mentioned too by the author of that article. "David - instant idol to instant ex-star all in the span in 5 years.". And that David Cassidy-Man Undercover didn't work out, and "not a great deal has been heard of David since".  Let's listen to one of the songs recorded by DC in the late 70s, this project didn't work out either. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWeUJFcoTaw In 1981 DC was written about again, even a lot, because of his role in 'Little Johnny Jones'. He gave many press interviews and always was asked about his teen idol experience. He said, "It's a horrendous existence going from cars to back kitchen elevators, decoys, b...

"His Performance Seduces You"

Image
There are new articles about 'David Cassidy - Man Undercover' recently published on the website, but first something different. Of course nothing about Rock&Roll Hall Of Fame 2024 Nominees, I've promised myself never to write about RRHOF again. It's about something I read 2 days ago, Angie Dickinson's memories about Frank Sinatra. At the end of the story of their dating she said, "You can't talk enough about him and yet you can never define him. That's the elusive magic." And of course I've thought about David. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeKYMuQ5PvE The readers of my blog know that I'm a great fan of 'David Cassidy - Man Undercover', and on DC's birthday, Jane published some previews and reviews of the first show's episode.  Before the series debut (November 2, 1978), there was a lot of anticipation and rather friendly interest. A bit of mischiev too, as we can read in Paul Henniger's preview  published on Octob...
