Sharron Liddle. An Unforgettable Journey To West Orange

Image
With a great pleasure I post today the first wonderful and moving West Orange Story. Written by Sharron Liddle, who came for David from the UK. Thank you Sharron.  When I first heard about the tribute event for David Cassidy in his hometown of West Orange, New Jersey, I was immediately moved. The idea of a global gathering to celebrate his life and legacy felt incredibly special. My heart leaped at the thought of being part of it, but my head quickly started calculating. Traveling from the UK, especially with my husband having just retired and our recent business sale, felt like a huge financial undertaking. I tried to be pragmatic. I told myself it didn't matter if I couldn't be there in person. I'd simply follow along online, soaking up all the photos and videos shared by the fans. I'd still be a part of it, just from a distance. But a tiny, hopeful part of me held on to the dream. Then, just a few weeks before event, I saw my husband on his computer, looking at fligh...

I Left My Heart In West Orange

Yes, I know it was beautiful Dora who was singing it (actually someone else), and how he was looking at her. They dated for a short time, Robyn and David, and of course everybody know about it, but what a good title for today's blog. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmZnk9RFKm0 I'm still so overwhelmed by emotions, no jet lag, on the contrary, adrenaline working like I was still in the USA. Amazing experience. I loved New York, everything what happened during 4 days spent there. 'Just In Time' on Broadway was something so wonderful that I can't find words really to describe my joy and gratitude. A show about Bobby Darin. I'm sure David Cassidy would have loved to watch it himself, and with this thought in mind we bought tickets (me and Mary), a few weeks after the show premiered, in May. And what a show it was! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPStVMqNOBI Saratoga Springs and the road to this town along Hudson River and the Appalachian Trail, only several miles aw...

'We Really Brought Him Home'

Image
I'm waiting for my plane to Zurich at the Kennedy Airport and thinking about those 10 days spent in the US. In New York City, West Orange and Saratoga Springs.  Such an emotional time, so meaningful, remembering it is like watching a long, exciting and very moving film, the kind where every scene and every conversation is important.  Someone said, 'We really brought him home'. So true. I feel that Barb and her wonderful team, the Mayor of West Orange, Katie and Beau, Henry Diltz, David's cousins, and every single participant, every single fan (and I mean also those who couldn't attend but were with us in spirit), like we all at last brought David Cassidy home. I have David's autobiography in my phone, and it was amazing experience visiting those places and reading about them in his book. Nothing really has changed. His Eagle Rock school is exactly at the same place, it is the same building he was going to, and across the street the Catholic elementary school whe...
