Seeing David in 'Joseph' by Judy West

Image
I'm always so happy when I can publish a fan's memory, especially with so many interesting details. And so moving and personal. This email from Judy was like a first Christmas present for me this year. Thank you so much Judy West, it's a great pleasure to have your story on my blog xxx  http://www.davidcassidy.com/fansite/TheatrePages/JosephVideo.html "I never had the opportunity to see David in concert, but I was so happy to hear that he was doing the play, "Joseph, and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" at the Royale Theater in New York! I live in New Jersey, USA, about an hour away from New York City.  My Aunt Lee, who I was very close with, used to enjoy going to plays. When I asked her if she would like to go to New York with me to see David in "Joseph," I was so happy that she said "Yes"!  We took the train into New York, and took a taxi to the theater. I was so happy and excited that I was going to see David in person!  We went into...

David and The Beatles again. This time because of George Harrison. We all know about the DC's friendship with John Lennon, and he also knew Paul McCartney quite well.  In 1975 David was one of the guests invited on board the famous cruise liner, the Queen Mary, at Long Beach in California. Celebration party for the recording end of the Paul McCartney and Wings highly anticipated album, 'Venus and Mars'. After the great success of their previous album, 'Band On The Run', fans and music critics all over the world were waiting for it. Even in communist Poland. I remember when I heard 'Venus and Mars' for the first time on Polish Radio. Maybe I even read about that party, but of course had no idea DC was there.  The party took place on March 24, 1975, and thanks to Henry Diltz we have one pic from it with David, in conversation with his friends from 'America', Dan Peek and Dewey Bunnell . There were about 200 guests, amazing names. George Harrison, Bob D...

That's the Way It Is With You / Harriet Schock

In October 1973, two David Cassidy's albums were released. One very successful (in the UK), called 'Dreams Are Nuthin' More Than Wishes', and that other one, the last Partridge Family's studio album, not successful at all, called 'Bulletin Board'.  'Dreams', the first real DC's recording, his first own album, and 'Bulletin Board'...so different from the previous TPF's records, more mature sound, less pop, more rock, more R&B influenced. More like David's solo album than TPF's. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AL8oxCCi-M It's not easy to write about Bulletin Board, because fans have different opinions on it. I think it was a bold attempt to change the sound of TPF, made in very unfavorable cirumstances. Everybody knew that it was probably the last album, the lead singer was tired and burned out, and wasn't on speaking terms with the producer, the album was arranged and produced in fact not by Wes Farrell, but by J...

P.S. I Love You..

Recenty I've written a lot about Lord Montagu and The Beaulieu Tribute to David. But of course we've got another tribute in November, in Liverpool. In a very special place.  Strawberry Fields, we all know that name, immortalized by John Lennon in one of his the most famous songs.  There was a Salvation Army children's home in the grounds known as Strawberry Fields, and John's aunt Mimi's house backed on to. John Lennon used to play there when he was a kid. And now, since 2019, the place is open to the public and people from all over the world keep coming there. There are a lot of attractions, among them the John Lennon 'Imagine' piano. It was bought in 2000 for 3 million US dollars by...George Michael, who was a great The Beatles fan, and it was always George's intention that the piano should be in Liverpool. There is a great video on YT where you can see the place, some great John's and George's pics, and the famous piano.. https://www.youtube.c...

Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town / J.Fred Coots, Haven Gillespie

It's not too soon. Actually the song originally became an instant hit in November 1934. Released at the height of Great Depression, it brought love and light, and that first version included lyrics encouraging listeners to be charitable..Something we should remember about this year too. That Christmas standard was recorded by over 200 artists, including The Partridge Family, the song from  'Christmas Card', released by Bell in ..yes, November 1971. I'm glad the info about it is on Wikipedia. And I'm happy because this is my grandsons' fav Christmas song, and all the neighbours have to listen to us singing with David.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5c75EXt38co So it's not too early, just have returned from shopping, and listened for the first time this season to..I'm sure you know what to. Every year the same, and I'm sorry for poor George Michael and his evergreen standard. He wrote it himself  in December 1983. 'Last Christmas' was release...

David Cassidy Japan Tour. Chapter 7

Image
The time after an important event is always difficult. The 5th anniversary of the day David Cassidy died was 3 days ago. Some fans (including me)  met in London,  it was great to be together just for a few hours, talking and remembering DC.  Our pics from November21st have been published, some the DC's friends have shared their memories  with us.. Time to return to reality, to the world without DC and to our daily task to keep that flame burning. Keeping his legacy alive. It's not easy, the new videos or articles don't appear every day even that we search Internet non stop looking for sth new. Thanks to Lord Montagu and Sharron Liddle we have a new tribute to David, an information board near the location of the riverbank where David went fishing with the current Lord's mum in 1973. And a new chapter from DC Japan Tour 1974 appeared 3 days ago. Maybe a song first. It has been cloudy today, the first snow this year which hasn't improved my mood..Ain't No Sunshine....

It's a Long Way to Heaven / Mark James

Since Friday I haven't listened to the David Cassidy's songs. A little bit unusual situation for me. Recently I've had no time for reading at all, so on my flight to London instead headphones I took a book. I was very busy in London. The 5th anniversary. Meeting with other DC's fans. Every night after returning to my hotel I went to bed right away. I didn't turn tv on, even once. But of course we all know all David's recordings by heart, and on my way home this song just started playing in my head https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utV6giIxkcw From 'Crossword Puzzle', the album released in March 1973. The final Partridge Family record to make the album charts, peaked at 167 on Billboard 200, and only for 5 weeks there. Bell Records lost its faith in the group. In 1970, 1971 and 1972 it released as many albums as possible, 7 The Partridge Family's  (including Greatest Hits) and 2 DC's solo albums. As someone wrote :'Bell Records after oversaturat...
